barbapx Posted January 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2019 We booked a guarantee on Holland American Oosterdam. Just got our cabin assignment and it's an accessible room. Not what we wanted but was told the ship is sold out. Has anyone experienced a accessible cabin, where you happy with it?
Djptcp Posted January 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2019 When are you sailing on the Oosterdam? We have a guaranteed Neptune Suite on the Feb. 2nd sailing - didn't have a choice but to do a guarantee with the incredible casino rate offer. Don't like guarantees as we prefer to select our cabin locations on cruises. When I booked the cruise I was told we would find out our suite location 2-7 days before the cruise. Patiently waiting, although the Neptunes have been sold out for several weeks now. Never had an accessible cabin before, but maybe it's larger to accommodate ease of wheelchair use, so that could be a bonus for you to have more room. Enjoy your cruise! I had an accessible on Veendam (390). There was a no barriers shower, and more floor space. The sofa was smaller and in a place that made it almost unusable. Some have reported ramps in inconvenient places and less furniture or unusual layouts. You might check halfacts to see if pictures of your cabin are available. sunnygidget Posted January 16, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2019 (edited) Those guarantee's, never know what you're going to get, it makes it interesting. We got an accessible room once and it was fun, a nice aft cabin with a deck outside E2707 on the Zaandam to Alaska. Access was easy to that deck, for pictures, the room had the huge shower (my husband is 6'6", so very nice for him), the doorway into the room was nice and wide (making it nicer to get access into that cabinet wall), yes the sofa was smaller. Since we had booked an inside guaranteed this was a nice upgrade for us. Edited January 16, 2019 by sunnygidget
