rudreamin84 Posted April 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Kujobie, you just inspired me to check out my reservation and I made $200 in 20 minutes!! I didn't want a cabin upgrade as I didn't like the choices so we decided to stay put and accept the $200 shipboard credit! mrsbooger Posted April 7, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Why is it easy for some and a struggle for others? Carnival would only give me half the current savings on shipboard credit. imatarb Posted April 7, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I'd love for this to happen, but I was told my my TA that once I book at a certain price, I was 'locked in', so I'm not sure if they would credit me in any way. rudreamin84 Posted April 7, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Dave, you crack me up! They offered us that cabin but we thought we'd give you guys some privacy. Afterall, this IS your Honeymoon isn't it???? Plus, we've got kids. Don't want to expose them to anything they don't need to be exposed to!! Have we decided where we are meeting yet?? 4/17/04 Triumph Cruise
gwells Posted April 7, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 7, 2004 imatarb, it doesn't hurt to ask (it actually might pay). I would tell your TA of what you've seen on this board and ask that they try also. My TA was very persistant, but it definately paid off for me! Good luck! until 4/04 Victory Cruise!! rudreamin84 Posted April 7, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 7, 2004 imatarb, The first time I asked someone at my TA, they said I couldn't get anything because we had paid in full. Today, I called my TA location and got the answering machine. It said that we could call the main # at the corp office. I did and said I saw a price reduction. The woman told me it didn't hurt to ask. She put me on hold and called Carnival and came back to me with my $200 shipboard credit. I don't know why the branch office would tell me I couldn't get anything and the corp office of the very same TA offering to try for me. Just plain laziness I guess..... My advice, call back and try again. All they have to do is call Carnival. Carnival takes care of everything. No work to be done on the TA's side other than a phone call I believe. Good luck! 4/17/04 Triumph Cruise
Stephany Posted April 7, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Ok all, kujobie thanks for the info. However, my TA just told me that Carnival said they couldn't price compare since I have an 8A Guarantee and there are no more of those cabins left.....can someone tell me if they were in a guarantee or assigned cabin? Not sure why this would make a difference but apparently it does. Can I call Carnival directly? I want onboard credit.....more drinks!! Need more input... Stephany Posted April 7, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Me again....how do you check the price to see if its gone down from what you paid?? Thanks Stephany First Timer Glory 4/
magmcclure Posted April 7, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 7, 2004 What your guarantee means is that you will not get a reduction in price but beacuse there are no more cabins left in your current category, you will be upgraded. If you had a confirmed cabn assignment, you would have received no upgrade but the credit. Hope that makes sense.
Stephany Posted April 7, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Thanks - can you or someone tell me before I call my TA back - what is the difference between an 8A and an 8C?? Stephany Posted April 7, 2004 #21 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Well, it was worth a try. After pissing off my TA, I found out that I actually got a cheaper rate then what they are offering right now for a 8A balcony....unless she was fibbing! So thanks everyone for the input and congrats on your credits....use them wisely.....drinks, drinks and more drunks! Everyone enjoy! Rare dickinson Posted April 7, 2004 #22 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Stephany- the diff between 8a and 8c is the deck your on. 8c is 2 decks higher. Many people like being higher up and feel it is worth the money. Others don't. Even though I have never had a balcony I think an 8b is preferable to 8a because you are sandwiched between decks with cabins instead of having some noisy public areas right below you. I have been on the Empress Deck on the Ecstasy (directly underneath the dining room), and at 6am there was stomping on my head. That got old really fast. While sailing on the Ecstasy on Feb 6th, some friends of mine were in a Cat 11 on the Verandah deck. That's all the way up front and all the way at the top. It's the second highest expensive cabins available. While napping in her cabin, we had runners jogging on the track above our heads. Every minute or so, our air conditioner vent would shake. Sigh. So I like to stay between two decks. Our Star Honeymoon cruise (5/16) is on the Baja deck - between the Aloha and the Caribe decks. Yep, sandwiched. That's where I like to be! jima53 Posted April 7, 2004 #25 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Concerning refunds or ship credits, heres my story.....My wife and I booked our first ever cruise last year for this coming fall on another cruise line, in a deluxe verandah suite, through the cruise line, not a travel agent. Well we got listed at the regular price, and put our deposit down. Well I checked our suite price on the Cruise line website this past weekend and saw the suite had dropped over $500 per person, so I called the cruise line, and within about 45 seconds, they told me my new price was almost $1200 less than what we thought, the lady sent me an email showing our account balance etc, and we are ecstatic over this bit of good news. It does pay to contact them, they didn't argue, deny, or beat around the bush....so, keep checking those prices and call. She did ask me where I saw the price reduction and I told her it was on her cruise company website.
