What time is the Chef’s Table?

We’ve done the Chef’s Table twice in the past, and loved it. We’re considering doing it again this upcoming cruise. Except it has been many years (so not sure what’s changed), and we will now have a child with us who will need to go to the kid’s club if we attend. It looks like the kid’s club closes between 5-6 pm. Does the Chef’s Table start after 6 pm? I remember it lasting several hours. But, then again, when we did it before we had nobody but ourselves to be responsible for. 🙂

What is the Chef's Table and what does it cost?

The Chef’sTable is a special dining experience limited to 12 passengers. It may happen 1-2 times a cruise. You can only request it after boarding, and you are not guaranteed a spot until they call and tell you you’re in. Before they accept you they’ll usually call or visit with you to interview you a bit about any food allergies or other special considerations. This isn’t the experience for people in need of a lot of special accomodations though. They cannot accomodate dietary restrictions at this meal.

It includes a special multi-course meal with wine pairings, hosted by the Executive Chef and Maitre D’. You sit at a special, and beautifully decorated table in the dining room with the others in the group, and share the meal together.

They start you off with a little tour of the galley during the dinner service (we’ve done it twice, and the extent of the tour varied). It was so awesome to see the kitchen in action! Both times were were blown away at how clean and orderly the kitchen looked, even in the midst of the bustle of dinner. There they give you a glass of champagne and some hors d’oeuvres. You can ask all of your burning questions about the ship’s food service.

After, they escort you back to the table for the rest of the meal and wine pairings. The event lasts a couple of hours. They also present you with a signed copy of the Princess cookbook, a picture, and a rose for the ladies (unless that has changed since we last did it).

I believe the cost is $95/pp. It may be a bit less if you don’t want the wine pairings.
