My family and I (party of 6) will be on OASIS this June with a stop in Civitavecchia. We want to book a private tour to Rome to include the Vatican and other others. We want it to include ticket purchase as well as private tour guide at the Vatican and other sites if possible. I have received narrowed down our choice between the two tour companies, RomeinLimo and RomePrivateExcursions? Has anyone used these companies. if so what were pros and cons?

Two years ago our family was in Rome and we did the Rome highlights tour with RomeinLimo.  In short, they are fabulous.  There are several threads on this board that go back years regarding this company and the thousands of reviews here and on TripAdvisor are nothing short of excellent.  This October we are going on another Med cruise that stops in Livorno, Rome and Naples and yesterday I booked RomeinLimo for all 3 days.  Have fun.

there are a lot of private tourcompanies other than the 2 you have mentioned

the thing to check is whether tour guide of Vatican is included

most companies are not licensed to guide within Vatican so need to hire additional guide at extra expense

we have used Rome-car-tours with Rudy who is also a licensed Vatican tour guide

Romecabs was fantastic. Had private tour with the owner Stefan and he was fantastic. Tailored the tour to our likes and requests. Very professional and courteous and very pleasant man to escort us around Rome.

For the coliseum was that just seeing it from the outside?

Another vote for Rome In Limo!!  Have used them on 3 different visits to Rome and all were excellent.  Always on time, drivers are great and very knowledgeable and the walking tour guides are great too including the one we had for the Vatican.  Wouldn't even consider another company if/when we return to our favorite city.

What day are you doing the tour?  We are a early 50s couple and will be on the Oasis 9 Jun arriving in Civitavecchia on 13 June and are looking for folks to join on a Rome Highlights tour with Rome in Limo.

Per board rules, tour shares are arranged on your Roll Call, located here:

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/424-oasis-of-the-seas-roll-calls/

It looks like you might be doing this tour after you get off the ship. In that case, Rome in Limo has a system on their website to share tours.

Another vote for Romeinlimo.  Had a great day with them awhile back.

At the major sites - make sure you arrange a "skip the line" priority-type entrance.  If you only have one day on a cruise stop (with an hour back and forth to the ship) you do not want to waste time waiting on long lines.  St. Peters (for security), Vatican, Coliseum, Roman Forum all have very long lines especially in high season like June.  You will see very little without this planning.

Keep your expectations manageable and prioritize what you want to see.  You can not do it all in a day. Even with the best connected companies, you will wait a bit everywhere.  Enjoy Rome!

We had already seen the Coliiseumon a previous trip. I am sure you could go in and tour. On a private tour they will take you wherever you want and wait for you while you see a place.

Great company to work with.  Everything was easy to set up and it all went exactly on schedule.  Driver had lots of interesting stories and the vehicle was very comfortable.  I have used them several times.  Always look forward to it.  Hope to use them again.
