rosiegirl2 Posted January 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2019 We'll be coming in on Celebrity Equinox and need to get to NCL Bliss (same day-February). Is it possible to walk from one to the other? We have wheeled luggage and don't mind walking if it's safe. I don't know if a taxi would want to do such a short trip and then have to get back at the end of their line to get their next fare. Are there walkways from one terminal to another? Capt_BJ Posted January 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) as you can see in the map below (a bit old but makes the point) all but one terminal at POM are in a row along one 'street'. You can walk from terminal to terminal along the row. You can also offer a nice tip to a porter who can help . . . note from new terminal A to terminal G is about 1.3 miles .... Google Maps street view will allow you to check out the entire area at eye level . . . The exception is terminal J, the one on the south west side, typically used by smaller ships that are not 'regulars' at POM, but even here you could walk it .... neptuno Posted January 31, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Yes, it can be done, but as you know, terminals are crowded and hectic. Uber and Lyft have minimum charges, probably around $7, but by the time you find them, you might have walked to the next terminal. As far as walkways, well, not exactly, but if you cross the main thoroughfare first, it would not be difficult, nor is crime a particular problem in the port, as there are police everywhere. Figure out which terminals you will be walking from and to, then decide on distance. If it were too far, try Uber or Lyft.
BNBR Posted January 31, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Just wing it. Get off the ship and see how far it is. If you think it's too far, taxis are everywhere. Give him $10 - $20 or whatever and be done with it. I would totally walk it, though. Even if one end to the other wouldn't be more than 20 minutes walk. JohninDC Posted January 31, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2019 I sure envy those who can take the time off to enjoy back to back cruises. One day I will get there!
rosiegirl2 Posted January 31, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Thanks for your suggestions....I'll try to get a view of the general area when we board the first cruise. We live in upstate NY and usually do back-to-backs since we're flying down anyway...and with this polar vortex weather our sail date can't come fast enough! Capt_BJ Posted January 31, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Law of averages says you won't have a walk more than half way! And you KNOW you won't be using CT-A cuz for now it is RCCL only. If the two cruises are going to be 'regulars' from POM around your dates then you could use MarineTraffic.com to check on their positions at the pier the week b4 ... odds are they will use the same berths the following week(s) so you'll know what the walk will be. ALTERNATE SUGGESTION: You mention just one rolling bag .... so if bags are not a big issue why walk directly to your 'new' ship ... your're certainly gonna have to wait to board. Take an UBER to Bayside which is just outside the port ..... if nothing else there are plenty of places to sit and have a coffee or two and let the craziness of folks leaving and the early arrivers get out of the way then come back around 11 (I'd wait til after noon)
JohninDC Posted January 31, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Or Uber to South Beach, store your bags for a fee at the Luggage Lounge, and explore SB, do some people watching, enjoy brunch and a few mimosas, and then head back to POM.
BNBR Posted January 31, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Pretty good advice. Miami is a decent place do do a little morning excursion. Many cruise lines also offer excursions with early afternoon drop off at the airport. You could get dropped off and grab a cab back to the ship as well. kiminey65 Posted February 2, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2019 There are some good suggestions above. I enjoy walking myself and there is no big hurry here with the turnover. I'd think it is an excellent idea to walk to your next ship, drop off your bags, then head over to Southbeach for a few hours. Why not???
SteerageJoe Posted February 2, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2019 (edited) It is uncomfortable at this time to walk to/from Terminal A due to the construction next door at Terminal B. No sidewalks. The other terminals are easy walking! You can also take the free trolley to/from Bayside! Here is a video showing the terminals clearly... rosiegirl2 Posted February 16, 2019 Author #12 Share Posted February 16, 2019 Just got onboard the NCL Bliss from the Celebrity Equinox. We tried getting a taxi to take us from one to the other. But the drivers said they weren't allowed to do so...not surprised because they have to wait so long on line for a fare, and our ride would have been so short. But good news! There is a free shuttle you can use...it's an unmarked white coach with a sign in the window "Complimentary to Parking Garages". We had checked with the ladies who are organizing the taxis in front of the Celebrity terminal and one of them called the coach driver to stop for us....it's free but we gave the driver a nice tip for taking us to Terminal B.
