Few questions for Oasis of the Seas cruise.

Recommended Posts

Hi, i've booked my first cruise for Oasis of the seas on april 26 to may 3 2020, I've asked a couple things in here and you lot seem very helpful and friendly, so I just have a couple more questions.

1. I have heard they have trivia on board the ships, I love trivia, is it announced when and where these take place? What is the trivia typically like? is it first one to shout it out, writing it on a paper, etc.? teams or solo?

2. In line with the first question, I heard there are game show like events, again, are these announced when and where, and what are they like?

3. I booked a suite, so I have access to the concierge, should I book shows and such ahead of time, or wait until I am in contact with the concierge and have them do it, as I read they can get you the best seats.

4. What games are in the casino? What are the buy ins/limits for things like? are guys playing poker with 10 bucks or 10,000 bucks?

5. Do suite guests get notified of any suite guest exclusive events (Like is it in the normal schedule paper everyone gets, or do suite guests get another paper with any exclusive events on them, such as a sail away party on the helipad someone in another thread mentioned that is for suite guests) or do we have to ask?

6. any extremely recommended excursions in san juan, st martin or labadee?

7. In the future should i use a travel agent? after my 500 deposit, im still paying about 6800 more, for 2 people on the 7 night cruise on a crown loft suite(I also just got the insurance through Royal Caribbean and prepaid the gratuities). No idea if this is a decent deal or anything.

8. Other than drink packages, any sales I should be on the look out for that could pop up in my cruise planner.

9. The deluxe beverage package includes pretty much everything, other than bottles and super premium alcohol, correct? like specialty coffee, etc.?

10. I know this just sounds like im being picky now, but do they have demerara sugar on board for coffee? it tastes so much better

11. Any other tips, or must do things i should know about for Oasis of the Seas?

thanks!

Can help with a few questions:

Trivia (and all other activities) is listed in the Cruise Compass, the daily schedule that is delivered to staterooms every evening and covers the next day.  Trivia answers are normally written on paper and judged by another team at the end of the questions.

No need to book shows, except for the comedy show.

You will get a letter or card in yor stateroom if you are invited to events that are not listed in the Cruise Compass.

Here are a few more answers

What is the trivia typically like? is it first one to shout it out, writing it on a paper, etc.? teams or solo?  Teams or solo and written on paper. Graded as Host mentioned. Prizes are Royal stuff like plastic key chains, etc.

3. I booked a suite, so I have access to the concierge, should I book shows and such ahead of time, or wait until I am in contact with the concierge and have them do it, as I read they can get you the best seats. No need for reservations, section roped off for suite and others. Just show up at least 15 minutes prior to show.

5. Do suite guests get notified of any suite guest exclusive events (Like is it in the normal schedule paper everyone gets, or do suite guests get another paper with any exclusive events on them, such as a sail away party on the helipad someone in another thread mentioned that is for suite guests) or do we have to ask? Yes, invitations will be placed in your room on the bed but also check with concierge to double check

7. In the future should i use a travel agent? after my 500 deposit, im still paying about 6800 more, for 2 people on the 7 night cruise on a crown loft suite(I also just got the insurance through Royal Caribbean and prepaid the gratuities). No idea if this is a decent deal or anything. I pay about the same for crown loft

11. Any other tips, or must do things i should know about for Oasis of the Seas? beer, wine, sodas and water are "free" in the suite lounge from 11 am to 10 pm (not sure on ending time) and cocktails from 4:30 to 8:30 pm so drink package might not be "worth it" . Oh and internet is included in Crown loft so no need to purchase extra

thanks!

Regardless of the base price you pay, a TA can probably get you about $500 OBC on that kind of a fare.

The trivia games sometimes has themes. i.e. Music, Michael Jackson, Disney (this will be in the Compass)

Audience participation events.  Love and Marriage. (they try to pick a newlyed couple.  a couple married for 10 or so years and and older couple that have been married for years and years).  Bellyflop contest, Worlds Sexiest Man contest, Quest (a scavenger hunt type activity.  They also have sports type events, such as basketball and ping pong.  They also have a cornhole touranment (although they call it something else, took me a bit to figure out what it was)  Again these are all listed in the compass.

Other things they are Line Dancing lessons and sometimes a flashmob thing.

The flashmob hasn't been done in at least a year, it wasn't offered on our last 2 Oasis cruises - or other ships either.

You may be able to find cruise compasses for your itinerary that others have posted.  check  royal caribbean blog dot com

That will give you a general idea of what's offered. Also download the Royal app - it'll have general events listed, and as you get closer they'll be more specific. They're not carved in stone, though - I've seen them change last minute, still be different on the app v. the printed compass, sometimes events are listed that don't happen (this occurred several times with the dance classes)

In St. Martin - definitely go to Maho Beach. Seeing the planes land so close over your head is quite an experience. There's a recent thread on this topic.

Sign up for the roll call for your sailing, you may get a lot of good tips from others sailing with you.

The Oasis class is our favorite and I hope will become yours too! Enjoy!!

Thanks for the answers everyone, it sure is helpful.

One last question I have, as I saw it said on their website suite guests get priority boarding the ship, are the suites ready right when they let us board, or do we have to wait until later in the day like I've seen other people mention.

Thanks again.

All but the Star Class suites are ready at the same time as other staterooms, around 1pm.

can you even put your carry on bag in the room or do you need to carry it around?

No access to the staterooms (not even to drop off carry ons) until they are ready.

Also, you may want to print out your questions for your suite concierge, who "should" be able to answer and help you with ALL of them!! That's what he/she is there for, so make good use of him/her and tip accordingly! Enjoy! Cheers!
