So a couple days ago I splurged on a pair of earrings on grand opening day in the shops. They did a raffle of everyone who bought from the jewelry shop last night, and apparently, I won! I thought there were doing a bunch of raffles, but I think now it was only two. A $50 gift card toward more jewelry, and the goodie bag I got. Mine was worth more, which is why I thought all the components were actually separate prizes. Or maybe they just didn't make many sales and decided to combine it?

I received: Probably the least attractive shirt in the new HAL lineup (very comfy female fit baseball T, but it has a large, very SHINY purple logo that's already starting to look scratched up from being put in and out of the goodie bag a few times), a nice HAL thermal mug (large coffee size with handle, not the tall tumbler kind), two small jars of scrubs from the spa (with small scrub loufas), a jewelry travel case (I already got one with my purchase, but I use these so this is useful for me), a pair of small dark blue sapphire stud earrings set in silver, and a dinner for two to Tamarind.

Wow! Congrats! Nice prize package, despite the ugly shirt. 😉

Wifi is worse than usual today, and CC is especially uncooperative. It’s refusing to let me upload my daily programs. [emoji19]
Enjoy some other assorted photos. [or one, because it’s back to writing out endlessly] I’m the worst at remembering to take pictures of interesting things. Please let me know if you have requests and I’m happy to go snap a picture of something for you. I already know I need to do the bar and wine menus.

Happy hour is 4-5pm in Ocean Bar and Billboard, and 9-10 in the Crow’s Nest. We’ve done the Ocean Bar almost every day. It is very full and social. We go to the bar rather than sitting at tables and always talk to folks near us. I would assume Billboard is at least as bustling. No worries there with the attached casino on the Eurodam— we have one of the only fully smoke-free casinos on HAL.

Ocean Bar also has a piano man doing a couple sets each evening starting after happy hour, and Billboard has at least three dueling piano sets a night. Both are always lively with guests when i’ve walked past. I’ve only noticed dancing at BBKings. Both with the band and the canned music between sets.

Thank you so much for you lovely response.  Your attention to detail and writing skill really paint a lovely picture, and the social aspect you describe is exactly what I value in a cruise, especially travelling solo and especially on a long cruise when you can really get to know people.  I hope our passenger complement on the next sailing is as nice as yours.

Happy to report we had solo/single cruiser meetups on the schedule most days!

Thanks, not interested in that, but I do like being social.  Meeting people like you and your husband and the people you enjoy being would enhance my vacation.

Are you happy with the Cellar Master package?

If possible, could you take a pic of the choice of wines you can order through the Cellar Master package? Trying to figure out, if the cost is reasonable.

You pick from Sommelier list #1.

It was worth it to us. You get 6 wines from that list (your choice on-ship, chosen one at a time at dinners or all at once for delivery to your room). Plus a bonus wine of their choice in your room on arrival. Plus a “gift” — we got wine glass charms. Plus 2 Pinnacle dinners (these were not correctly credited to our account and we had waste time to have them fixed). Plus the basic and premium wine tasting. If you would have paid for those tastings and/or dinners, it’s definitely worth it. If you don’t care about those, just buy the 4/6/8 wine bottle packages.

Cat Shepard, I know FaerieVert can answer for herself, but I'm going to answer -  I hope FaerieVert doesn't mind.

When you're a booked passenger, and can log in to the "Already Booked" section of the HAL website with a booking number?  You can see the Cellar Master Package, or book it for 1, or for 2 - and the price for 2 will be less than double the price for 1.

If you are an infrequent cruiser, and wonder where information on things like price per bottle of liquor come from, or a variety of other things?  Which you can't find?  It may be due to  NOT being currently booked.  I'm currently booked, and it's the first time I've been able to see that part of the website for a couple years.

Apologies if anyone sees this as a thread hijack,  NOT intended

FaerieVert, - this is the best "Live from" thread I've read in a long time.  It's mainly due to your easy, readable style, but also the great extra media added.  Thanks a bunch for sharing your vacation time!

Just to clarify, is the Cellar Master Single ($300) package for one person, and the double ($403) for two?

And when it says "two evenings" in Pinnacle, if you buy the double package, does that equate to four meals (two meals X two evenings?)

Since the package has you select from Cellar #1, the lower priced wines, were you, personally, happy with the quality of wines offered?

Thanks so much for all your efforts to post. And thanks, fann1sh, for your added post about this package.

I just heard from my parents on board this cruise. The port of Honolulu has been closed to incoming/outgoing traffic until 5:00 am Monday, Hawaii time. The Captain is trying to get the port to allow the Eurodam to stay until 6:00 pm Monday, but that has not been finalized yet. Either way, they have had to drop the port of call at Maui and will try and proceed to Hilo & Kona on Monday.

My parents understand from the captain that the storm is moving slower than expected and is staring than expected and both of those factors are making it difficult to predict what will happen. It's looking like a rough ride for the islands for a couple more days.

I'm sure the OP will have more to add later.

We’re stuck in Honolulu another night. I’m very frustrated. Both of the ports I was most excited for are now canceled. Yes, all my excursions for those ports are or will be refunded. But it’s not about the money. It’s missing out on BEING there.

I’ll talk about what we actually did today tomorrow. Too aggravated to narrate.

Fingers crossed we can pull off some magic in the AM to salvage our flightseeing tour out of Kona. That one’s too late to refund (without filing a claim against our card’s insurance... which we’ll do if necessary). With our other plane tour canceled, it’s our last chance to tour the islands by air. 🤞
