While I agree, it is an internet forum. The OP nor anyone but the mods have any control over where the thread goes other than to decide to post or not.  Pretty much happens on every thread which can generate any controversial discussion.

Every time! Always has to include some judging other people, too.

Plenty of places went out of business and yes I would give up sailing if I could not smoke, just as I do not frequent bar/restaurants without outdoor seating or land casinos with smoking bans.

Not a single place went out of business because of smoking bans.  They may have gone out of business at or about the same time but that was purely coincidental.  Most places have done quite well with teh bans in place, many have had increased business.

Bottom line is that smokers are a dying breed and at some point in the future all cruise lines will be 100% smoke free.

Smoking is legal.  Just like drinking.  I get people don't want to smell it next to them at the pool and stuff.  But - Its open air.  Smokers should get more space than what they had on the Bliss. - When half outside areas on the ship was smoking, all was fine in the world.

PS Cigar smokers get a room in a prime spot on the ship to smoke.  Why can't cigarette smokers have space in a prime spot too?  Or Vapers?

And if cigarette smokers can't smoke where the cigar smokers go, why can people smoke cigars with the cigarette smokers?  They don't all like the smell of cigars

So you are saying it would all be OK if smoking got outlawed right?

That means 15% of the pool area should be for smokers. What you don't realize is many smokers want a lounge chair but can't have one because its been taken from them.  they can't hang at the pool.  They can't supervise their kids.  When kids are splashing around in hot tubs etc and unsupervised this is why.

Many smokers also do not smoke indoors, they want to smoke outside, not in a closed room of smoke

The bliss put a door on the smoking in the casino and it was way more smoky in the casino then when it was just open.

Until smoking is illegal, its not right to discriminate against smokers.  What about smelly people.  Some cultures or religions don't do deodorant.  Or people wear strong perfume or cologne.  IMO get over it and get to the pool earlier.  If 15% of the ship is smokers, they deserve 15% of open air space

HA HA HA HA

Smokers can have a lounge chair.  As long as you are using it, things are fine.  You leave and it is fair game for anyone else just like when ANYONE leaves his lounge chair

This is hilarious.  Sure they can supervise their kids.  Just leave the smokes behind when doing so. Is sucking down those carcinogens more important than parenting your child?

So you agree that being forced to smell and breath smoke is offensive and unwanted.  You are saying that you do not want to smell your own smoke but screw anyone else who has to smell it.

So now you are saying you woulc be OK with smoking being made illegal.  Be careful what you ask for!

Forums are a great place to study logical fallacies. We just had a great example of The Slippery Slope.

I'm waiting for the ad hominem abusive that usually fly by about the 3rd page of such discussions.  The funniest ones though are the appeal to pity, and fallacy of equivocation.

As I lie here on the beach in Turks and Caicos cigarrette in hand.  I can't help but think that some of you sound like the biggest spoiled brats.  And seriously people if you worried about the quality of air you should never be on the deck of a cruise ship.

Fewer and fewer people smoke so it's natural that the smoking areas gets smaller.

The smoke doesn't bother me much so it's not a problem for me but I understand why some should prefer 100% smokefree ships.

I'm glad that I don't smoke because if I was a smoker I could probably not afford to cruise!
