SherriM Posted February 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2019 (edited) Hi, We are going to be on the POA at the beginning of April. Started to wonder if we would “need” to have any sort of Hawaiian attire? Last time we sailed to HI it was on HA and of course we had the Dining Room dinners that had various “dress up” themes, and I bought Hawaiian tops while on shore for the ship board fun. BUT being that POA really doesn’t have the “themed events” as far as I know... will there be any real reason to pack something festive and Hawaiian to wear?? Any past POA sailers with advise? 🌺🌸🌝 Thanks, Sherri (and George) Edited February 18, 2019 by SherriM
trish1c Posted February 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) There are no themes. It is the most un-cruise-like cruise ever. It's about getting from here to there. Being on board is secondary. DH bought a Hawaiian shirt pre-cruise but there was not an abundance of festive attire. Appreciate your input and was exactly what I was sort of thinking. And needed the confirmation!

The only one we can remember in recent years is the Paul Gauguin. From their website: "One of the highlights of each voyage aboard The Gauguin is Polynesian Night. This is the night that the history, culture, songs, dance, and arts and crafts of the enchanting people of the South Pacific are celebrated. Enjoy a tropical cocktail and pre-dinner music in both the piano bar and La Palette lounge. Local Tahitians come aboard and help guests make complimentary fresh flower crowns called heis, as well as leis. During this evening, a multi-course Polynesian dining experience is offered in all three dining venues aboard The Gauguin, and Polynesian-style attire is encouraged." trish1c Posted February 22, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2019 (edited) Themes went away when airlines started with the weight & luggage restrictions. Edited February 22, 2019 by trish1c
