wlbox Posted January 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2006 We are thinking of taking the Celebrity Millie "Around the Horn "Cruise leaving March 5. Will the weather still be ok or will it be really a rough time to be attempting this trip? Dont want to be seasick !!!
NewCruiseFan Posted January 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2006 There's really no way to predict the weather. I just did the Drake in January and we had marvelous calm seas but the two cruises prior to us had terrible weather. Your best bet would be to take the cruise you want, will enjoy and have time for. Take dramamine or scopalamine patches for seasickness.
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2006 No matter when you go around the Horn the seas can be rough. And the weather can change at the last minute, and usually does. About eight hours before we went around the Horn the weather was looking good but all of a sudden it turned for the worse. The good news is that the Millenium is a nice size ship. I went around the Horn last year on a 200 passenger ship. South America is a wonderful cruise. There is much to see and there is so much beauty out there. I can't wait until we go back which will be next year. Keith
Druke I Posted January 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2006 We're going this March, 'round the Horn, on Regal Princess. Sea state is always a big IF - never know. Just last week, both a Celebrity ship and Regal Princess ran into gale force winds of 60mph, and Regal Princess had to skip a couple of ports, including Port Stanley, Falklands. According to the Celebrity threads, a lot of people were sick on their ship, and the water was reported to be quite rough. Actaully, we are looking forward to a "bumpy ride" 'round the Horn. May Posted January 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2006 We cruised around the Horn in mid March 2005 on Holland America's Amsterdam. We did have to skip Falkland Islands because of rough seas, but the rest of the cruise was no problem. Cruising around the Horn was awesome. The weather was changing constanly from sun to drizzle and it remained very windy. Therefore bring wind and rain proof clothes, hats and gloves. Dressing in layers is the best advice. You will want to be able to stay out on the deck to really experience the scenery which is spectacular. It is the best cruise we've ever done.:)
