A Day in LA...HELP!

No need for a hotel but LA is a vast area so you should decide in advance what you are most interested in seeing.  The easiest way around in LA is to rent a car.  That should cover your luggage storage and will allow you to end up at the airport.  My preference would be to stay toward the west side which would include, Santa Monica, Venice beach area.  If you are Museum oriented you could include the Getty as well.

Agreed that renting a car gives you the most options and flexibility...

If you don't want to rent a car, another option would be to book a tour with Sunseeker Tours:

https://sunseekertours.com/

For $149 pp, they'll pick you up at the pier, give you an 8 hour tour of LA...and drop you and your luggage off at LAX...but, obviously, with still a lot of time left before your flight...but, at least it would have taken up a lot of that extra time...

Have booked with SunSeekers in the past.  Were very pleased with their service.
