Questions about Ocean Now

I can log into Ocean Now, but when I try to claim my reservation number it gives me the error: "Claim Failed". Can you only claim your reservation and get in after you are onboard?

Do both my DH and I have to have the Ocean Now on our phones in order to use it to order drinks, especially if we have the PBP? We are both registered on Ocean Ready on my phone but I am assuming we both need to download all the other apps onto our own phones?

Are you asking about the OceanReady app to input our information prior to sailing?  The Princess website shows that OceanNow is the food/drink function of the Medallion.

When my TA checked for our April MedallionClass cruise Princess said they’d email passengers when we could use the OceanReady app for a cruise.  And until receiving that notification I’d receive a failed indication for accessing my cruise on the app...when is your cruise & have you received notification that you could access the app?

Guests on MedallionClass voyages will only be able to get OceanReady within 1-2 months prior to sailing”.

During the transition not too much appears to be standard and with so many Medallion and Ocean terms it’s confusing to me.

No, actually I'm asking about OceanNow, an App for once you are on the ship. There is also PlayOcean, OceanCompass and OceanCasino.

I was able to successfully download, log in and complete the OceanReady App a few weeks ago. We sail this upcoming Sunday.

As of 2 weeks ago the Ocean Now app was not functional on the Regal. Check with the Ocean staff once you are on board.

Thanks, I'll definitely seek them out. The concept is great - if it works!

Thanks...that helps me & eventually I’ll figure out all of this newfangled system. ☺️

Both Ocean Now and Ocean Compass are tied to the ship you are on, as well as Ocean Casino I would guess.

This is a great question, we never ordered more than one drink at a time. I can see a group of 4 sitting at Crooners trying to order another round, would seem simple to have one person order and have the waitstaff allocate the billing at time of delivery. Anxious to hear the 'real answer'.

Ok - here's another question.

I downloaded Ocean Ready and both DH and I are registered on my phone with my log in and password.

For OceanNow, PlayOcean and OceanCompass does he need to "join ocean" with another e-mail address and password? I downloaded the apps on his phone but don't know if he should sign in under my log in or create his own?

I called the help desk and she has no clue. I'm on hold right now while she tries to find the answer....

If the apps are on his phone, he will be able to perform the functions. Ocean compass is the important one for both of you to keep your own identity. This is used for finding shipmates, whether they be roommates or others that you have asked to be friends with or those that have asked you and you have responded affirmatively. This is also the app you will use to text each other, like at home with a ping and everything.

Ocean now is for ordering, if you are apart might be convenient to both have this one. Play ocean is for playing games ( not casino real money). So your decision. Also when you get onboard there are some really smart people that know how to talk with us less techy people.

Smooth sailing, Jim

FYI: It's the same password for all the apps. Don't sweat about downloading beforehand as access to the App Store is free when on ships wifi (no need to connect to the internet and use minutes). You will need Ocean Ready to order the medallion but no delivery to the UK so had to use the paper boarding pass at the terminal. You won't need Ocean ready once you've boarded. OceanNow is drinks, OceanCompass is for finding your shipmates, PlayOcean is for customising your tagalong and some games, OceanCasino is for pay games, OceanView is for tv. OceanConcierge is not an app and the old intranet but doesn't use the same sign on as the Ocean Apps. [Note the lack of a space in the App names if you're searching on the App store]

We were on CB last week and we were told that with Drinks Package, you should each order a drink. Apart from the fact that it only worked in certain areas and only about 50% of the time in areas where it had worked before, the app user experience is flaky and not particularly intuitive. Not all the drinks waiters have a locator so it was amusing to watch the waiter walk around the area holding a drink asking passengers if they ordered a drink... :classic_wacko: We also noticed that if you moved even a short distance after ordering a drink then the system thinks you've changed locations so stops your order. Not the experience they suggest.

I queried the point about both passengers having the drinks package and how it was silly to order it separately (as this could mean 2 separate trips for the waiter) was told by the Ocean team: "Ah, good point... just order 2 and you won't be charged until we figure out how to do it", I then asked about hitting the maximum drinks too quickly which stumped them so I gave up...

Ocean Compass is quite good and worked most of the time and was quite accurate for tracking DW around the various shops but is yet another App to use requiring you to sign in to it. I guess that's the main point - you 'need' 5 Apps and one link to the Concierge (Intranet) - not as integrated as I expected but at least it's one password even though you have to log into each - nothing as clever as a SSO (single sign on) or a persistent log on.

Without wanting to cast any shade on the new tech: Don't expect anything more than it unlocking your door and if any of it works then it's a bonus. Kinda fun...

On the Regal 2/10 sailing, I was able to put my medallion up to the ship deck picture by the elevator and locate my husband on the ship.  I did not use ocean compass (kept my phone off the entire cruise), but texting him using it sounds great.  Thanks for the info!

I guess if you lose your medallion you should immediately go to guest services to let them know, cancel your lost one and get a new one.  Also, do not keep your medallion near the inside of your cabin door and put your deadbolt on when you are in the cabin.  We spoke with someone who kept hearing a clicking sound and when they inquired, someone came to check on this and they were told their medallions were too close to their cabin door.

Thanks so much for all the info - I am going to wait onboard before I decide what to do with his medallion. If not too much is operative yet I may not do anything with his.

I just finished packing. I can't wait to board tomorrow. Embarkation is my FAVORITE day!

Thanks - this is really good to know - we will definitely use all the tech that is available to us. I hope OceanNow is fully operative - I really want to be able to order a drink without having to move from my lounger!
