Tween in Kids Programs-NCL vs. RCI and Carnival Age Grouping

We will be sailing this year with our 8 year old daughter and soon to be 12 year old tween son.  On NCL, our son would be in the Dolphins ages 10-12, but on RCI and Carnival he would be in the 12-14 teen program.  We'd prefer to sail on NCL, but I am considering that he might be happier being in the teen program on RCI or Carnival, as opposed to the 10-12 year olds on NCL and that could make a difference for our trip since my husband and I would love to have a few nights to ourselves and have the kids have fun.  Does anyone have any input as to sailing at this in-between age with NCL Dolphins vs. the other teen programs?  Thank you!
