CARNIVAL TV SYSTEM

We have only cruised Princess and the tv in the cabin is amazing.  They have tons of movies and tv shows to watch and you can watch a movie and turn it off half way thru and when you come back it will start where you left off.  Does Carnival have anything like this? Are there movies you can watch in your cabin?  We usually like to watch tv to wind down at the end of the night.  Thanks

Maybe it is just me, but the music on the moving map channel always relaxes me and helps me go to sleep at night.

Was wondering the same. We were on Princess few weeks ago and On Demand movies and TV shows were awesome. All Free. Plus everything they showed in the theater or outdoor screen was available on demand right after.

No, the only on demand movies were pay ($5 each). There are 2 free movie channels that play a different movie every 3 hours or so with trailers in between.

The other options were CBS news, HGTV, food network, a couple of kids stations, that was pretty much it.

 

There is an interactive part of the TV with menus and a few other things but all that stuff is easier to access on the free Hub app anyway. 

 

Nothing great. We were glad we had downloaded some Netflix stuff to my iPad for when we wanted a movie so we basically left the TV off.

On my last cruise Carnival had a decent list of On Demand movies available for $4.99 (IIRC) each. Most were movies that were currently or recently in the theater (and some were shown for free as Dive In movies that cruise). I tried to rent one but the On Demand system was down. GS said it had been down for the past couple of cruises and they had no idea when it would be back up. Carnival's current TV selection sucks. It's been scaled way back from what it used to be.

No single answer to this question.  The newer ships such as Vista and Horizon have a fairly good selection of on-demand movies, most free, but a few for a charge, that work as you describe.  There are no on demand TV shows.  Older ships have a few movies that play on a loop and are not on demand.  Carnival recently changed their live TV offerings to include HGTV, Food Network, CBS News, and some children's' channels - a slight improvement to their previously very poor lineup.

 

Vista and Horizon also have IMAX theaters, that depending on what has just been released that week, have some great movies.  We recently saw Aquaman in 3D on the Horizon ($10 for seniors) and it was fantastic.

Carnival's current TV selection really sucks. It's not as good as it used to be, and all of the commercials are in Spanish!
