Would there likely be any real difference in the amount of wild animal sightings like whales by going a week later to visit more into mid and late June, rather than early to mid-June?

It shouldn't make a difference in whale sightings except how they feel that day.

Thanks!  I felt silly asking about whether shifting out a week or two would matter, but wasn't sure if whale migrations got better later in June.

I have gone many times in May and first week of June and have seen plenty of whales. I probably saw just as many as I did in July.

The only difference is the whales will be fatter on the later dates! An extra two weeks of piling on all those herring should mean they've all let their belts out a notch or two;-)

I guess one other difference is school holidays....  the later in June, the more likely the cruise ship will have more kids aboard.

 

Otherwise, there will be little difference in Alaska.  Might be a little warmer..

Our schools all end in May. I am surprised how late Washington school districts go.

Our daughter and son-in-law are both teachers (different districts) and their school year ends June 12 and June 13th -- Northern California locations.

The whales start arriving back to Alaska from Hawaii and Mexico in March!

In Vancouver.... the classes go until the last week of June.

Yep - in my part of the country, we are all done by Memorial Day. Always. Besides it is super hot by then here.
