DebInAntigua Posted March 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2019 June 5th through 21st? or June 12th through 28th? Would there likely be any real difference in the amount of wild animal sightings like whales by going a week later to visit more into mid and late June, rather than early to mid-June? Rare Coral Posted March 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2019 They are both good choices. It shouldn't make a difference in whale sightings except how they feel that day.

wheezedr Posted March 17, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2019 There is no real difference between those 2 times so whatever works best for your schedule.
DebInAntigua Posted March 18, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted March 18, 2019 Thanks! I felt silly asking about whether shifting out a week or two would matter, but wasn't sure if whale migrations got better later in June.

I have gone many times in May and first week of June and have seen plenty of whales. I probably saw just as many as I did in July. Rare martincath Posted March 18, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 18, 2019 The only difference is the whales will be fatter on the later dates! An extra two weeks of piling on all those herring should mean they've all let their belts out a notch or two;-)
xlxo Posted April 20, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2019 (edited) I guess one other difference is school holidays.... the later in June, the more likely the cruise ship will have more kids aboard. Otherwise, there will be little difference in Alaska. Might be a little warmer.. Edited April 20, 2019 by xlxo

Italy52 Posted April 20, 2019 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Our daughter and son-in-law are both teachers (different districts) and their school year ends June 12 and June 13th -- Northern California locations.

Rare Coral Posted April 21, 2019 #13 Share Posted April 21, 2019 Yep - in my part of the country, we are all done by Memorial Day. Always. Besides it is super hot by then here.
