Newbie Q: what happens in disembarkation port when you B2B in the same cabin?

Do you have to re-check-in? How?

Can you stay on the ship?

If we want to sight-see, can we leave the ship early enough, or must we wait until everyone that’s finished their cruise has left?

The change-over port will be Auckland, NZ.

What is your best piece of advice when doing a B2B?

Thanks! Diane and Bill

Azamara will invite you to a nice event with a drink a few days before the end and will explain the procedures. It differs in every port but it’s very simple. You can do whatever you want, go off stay aboard,it’s your choice. If you want to leave earlier that the time they schedule for b2b processing (you check out with your old card and set up you new onethey give you at the b2b meeting) just say.  If it’s possible they will set it up.

Ond nice thing, you can order room service breakfast even though the newsletter says there is no room service (that’s for the leavers). We do that as the other places are pretty busy.

And if you are staying onboard the laundry will be very quiet, so it can be a good time to use it.  You are allowed anywhere on the ship even though signs say otherwise.  They will explain any crewdrills or disruption (eg carpet laying) that’s happening at the b2b event.

If you do not have the same room, and you are not around for the move, you have to pack all your items up except hanging items and staff will move it whilst you are ashore.  The problem is you have to empty the safe and then carry your valuables ashore for the day which you might not want to do in some cities.

You can order breakfast whatever is happening though it has to be delivered before 0800

Hi there, and of you don´t have the same cabin... Do we have to stat on board to make the move??? Can we still order breakfast?

The moves are typically done between 8:30 and 9 in the morning.  If the "new" stateroom has been vacated you can move valuables to the "new" safe before the room has been made up, and then leave the ship.

You are right however the earliest we have got the new room has been 10.00 and our recent experiences were nearer 10.30 -  we have never had the new room ready before the start of the b2b processing for those not going ashore earlier. (usually around 0915)

It all depends if the outgoing guests are reasonable or if they are the kind who push the vacate by 8 timeline beyond then.  The hard worked staff cannot start the strip down and sanitisation processes until the previous guest has fully left the room, so even leaving cases whilst having a later breakfast can cause issues for the incoming guests.  Our worst one was being in a domino chain of moves - we were in a verandah going to a CC but the CC occupant was going to the Owners suite.  We weren't allowed to move things until the CC had been cleaned but the guests there could not get out to the Owners.

I wish there was some safes that guests who are moving could use if they want to go ashore on b2b day.  We have decided for the future, if the port is one we want to do something in on turn around day we will make sure we have the same room both legs to avoid this hassle.

We've always been able to put things into the safe in the new room as soon as the former passengers left.  Luggage and hanging clothes can be moved later.

Thanks, we asked but were told for infection control that was not allowed.  Not sure what the true position is - has anyone else been allowed to do their safes ahead of the official move times?

Thanks again guys... I think we may plan just for a quiet morning on board while the ship is almost empty and then may just go and walk around Monaco for a lunch...

Its a nice perk that Azamara allows b2b cruisers to have breakfast on your balcony.  If I remember correctly, you get a special menu (same food items, it just looks different)  I'm sure this is so the kitchen staff know you are a b2b cruiser.  Its very nice to be on the ship when its almost empty.....especially the pool!

We just completed a b2b on Celebrity and on turn around day, I was thinking about Azamara and how nice it is that you can eat on your balcony....complete with white tablecloth!

How early can you usually leave the ship for sightseeing on the changeover day?  We will be in Athens for that one day and want to make the most of our time.  Would love to book a ship excursion, but after the sightseeing the bus goes to the airport (naturally).

Thank you.
