Escape, Bermuda port days - drink tax?

Hi

 

we have the drink package, and I saw a comment that taxes on drinks while in port.  Is this true?  We have 3 days in port, and I am wanting to understand the details.

No, there will be no taxes charged for drinks while docked in Bermuda.

Also, the shops are closed while in port. And there are limited shopping at the port shops. The Casino opens at night for a few hours (NCL has paid for a gaming license for limited operations).

Been on NCL to Bermuda three times.  There was no tax on drinks at any time while in Bermuda.   There WAS a tax while in port in NYC and for a short time after we left port.  I think you pay tax until the ship reaches international waters?  Maybe others know for certain when the cut off for the tax occurs.  It's not a lot of money.  I just remind everyone we sail with not to be surprised when they see it on their room charges,

Do you know how much the tax is ?  I know its not much but wanted to let my friend know as this is her 1st cruise. thanks

Don't know the current rate.  It was less than $2.00 a drink the last time we sailed out of NYC (two years ago).  Drink prices have gone up, so hopefully someone can post a more accurate amount.

 Thank you I remember it was something like a $1 or $2. And I just wanted to give her a heads up so when she sees a charge for  that amount she will know what it is for.
