RCCL not only built a pier on their island, they spent 250 million upgrading the island to a resort/ water park. Going there next week on RCCL Mariner OTS. Can't wait. I'm a frequent cruiser on NCL and LOVE NCL ships too!!!
Alatraveler1 Posted May 19, 2019 #27 Share Posted May 19, 2019 Missed GSC on Epic when RCI and Disney made their stops the same day. On board credit, go to Nassau instead? Nope, nada, nothing, but the casino, bars and onboard shops made $$$ that day.......

They can only go Nassau if there is room (we’ve gone there when missing GSC). NCL loses revenue when missing GSC, no excursions, plus they get the money when passengers buy drinks on the island or on the ship. I’ve seen posts here with video showing very dangerous tender situations when NCL decided to chance it.
Rare Redsky5292 Posted May 20, 2019 #29 Share Posted May 20, 2019 I've had 50% luck, sailed in April twice to the Bahamas, the first cruise we skipped GSC due to rough seas, the next year we were able to make it. Since our next stop was Nassau, and there was room at the Pier, we went to Nassau and spent the afternoon and whole next day there. We weren't planning on getting off at GSC, and subsequently stayed on board the following year, so it was no big deal for us. I don't remember if we got an OBC for skipping GSC... We were on the Breakaway both times and it was mid April.
GrabMyWrist Posted May 20, 2019 #30 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Haven't made it to GSC yet. At this point, I'm sure it's a myth. Maybe one day....
Rare graphicguy Posted May 20, 2019 #31 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Winter and Spring Months are tough for tendering to GSC.

I stand corrected, it was Grand Turk that we missed. Regardless, Carnival compensated us well for missing a port. NCL, not so much.
davy jones Posted May 21, 2019 #33 Share Posted May 21, 2019 Moderate winds can create safety issues for tendering. Royal built a pier with their revenue generating enhancements at Coco Cay. I suspect that NCL is carefully watching Royal's Coco Cay experience.
