When to arrive at San Diego port

Last Hawaiian cruise we took from San Diego a few years ago, the ship was delayed until almost 7PM because they waited for some flight delayed travelers. We were practically finished eating dinner before the ship pulled out. Don't bother getting there before 10AM since the Mexico cruise will still be disembarking and you'll just be standing around. We plan to leave home about 11:00AM on Saturday so we'll probably be in line by about 11:30AM.  That's when they've started processing passengers in the past. (unless there's a hold-up with the previous cruise like there was last Saturday) Sounds like Friday might well be a rainy day, so be prepared for that. But Saturday is supposed to be dry. Good luck.

You're welcome to arrive any time that you want.  Fog? ....perhaps you are confusing Galveston or New Orleans?

Some on CC board prefer to arrive early.  I usually recommend arriving mid-afternoon.

You've probably received some "suggestion" of check-in time.  This is a new concept and seems to have slowed the flood of people arriving before noon.   As I've mentioned before, by state law the longshore workers must take a lunch before the start of their 6th hour on the job.  That means all of them must break before 1.....so they do it in shifts beginning at 11:15 am.

Your proposed arrival might be impacted.

Because Saturday's departure is a Hawaiian Island itinerary, there will be more 4 & 5 Star Mariners.  Also, the Eurodam's suite guests will be granted priority regardless of when they arrive.

Be prepared to take a seat and wait ....and ....check-in and ......wait.

You do realize that the Eurodam  accomodates 2,200 passengers.......not the 1,300 -1,400 in days gone by?

I cruise out of San Diego on April 21st for the 7 day Mexican cruise. Very excited!!! Never been to the San Diego port before. How can I see if there will be other ships there and if that will impact the amount of people coming in and out?

You can find the port schedule here:   http://crew-center.com/san-diego-california-cruise-ship-schedule-2019

We boarded on April 3 when there were 3 ships in port.   We arrived at the port at around 10:30, very little traffic.    Boarding didn't start until 11:45, and our Boarding Group 4 was called around 12:15.
