lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #101 Share Posted April 28, 2019 Well enough of all that feeling sorry for myself. Can't let one bad apple spoil my cruise. I had two items on my San Juan bucket list this trip: 1. Go see the umbrellas 2. Take pics with the birds You'll have to stay tuned to see if I succeed. lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #102 Share Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) So after we usher the kiddos to the room to switch into their 2nd set of swimwear we meet up in the atrium and make our way off the boat. Surprisingly, there is little to no wait to exit the boat. Maybe that is because 1/3 of the ship is eating dinner. I don't know but I liked it. How can you not love that smile? lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #104 Share Posted April 28, 2019 As we are making our way out the port we decided to head back to Green Island Beach. So we jump in the taxi and make our way over. It does not take long for the shenanigans to begin. Mr. Valentin did not speak much English but he certainly understood our humor - Cruise Tip - When you are making your way to your destination, see if you can arrange with your driver to come pick you back up. This way you can enjoy your time without having to think about how you are going to get back to the pier. Most will agree to a set time. Since we had cell service he just agreed to pick us up when we called.

lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #106 Share Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) While the kiddos enjoyed the water the adults vegged out and had a "SnackNick"! Of course the bloodhounds came running as soon the scent hit the air. Being that it was late evening all of the chair vendors had packed up. This did not matter to us. We never had beach chairs growing up so we just nested in the sand like the good old days. Edited April 28, 2019 by lcookie

lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #111 Share Posted April 28, 2019 After nightfall we called Mr. Valentin and he promptly came and took us back to the port. While we were waiting I had a short convo with "Mary the Soveneir Lady"

lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #113 Share Posted April 28, 2019 Once in port we wandered around the immediate area and landed at Tijuana's for dinner. FYI - Their Cheese Dip is Extra Cheesy!

lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #115 Share Posted April 28, 2019 After dinner we parted ways from our friends and headed out to clear that bucket list. As we head up the cobblestone roads we get just about half way to the umbrellas when one of the locals tell us the lights probably won't be on so the umbrellas won't be all too visible. Nuff Said - exit stage left. We were full from dinner and starting to wind down from the day's events so it did not take much to sway us. We'll catch that and the forts next time we are there. lcookie Posted April 28, 2019 Author #116 Share Posted April 28, 2019 While walking back to towards the port area we come upon two guys and their parrots. I speak with them about negotiating their terms. Their deal was 10 bucks per pic and they print out the pic for you. I explained to them I did not want any hard copies just digitals. I would still pay them 10 bucks per just have them shoot the pics with my camera. Seemed like a win for them to me but they refused my offer. I politely shook their hand and parted ways. No Harm No Foul.

They had an improve comedy show a couple nights. Not sure what else they had. The nightlife was kinda slow from my observations. We mainly did stuff with the kiddos. lcookie Posted May 2, 2019 Author #124 Share Posted May 2, 2019 (edited) Hello everyone and welcome to St. Thomas!!! Two of the other 3 ships that were in port today off in the distance. Views like this never get old! Today is the day I check the next quest off of my bucket list. Scuba Diving in the Ocean. I took a class in a swimming pool and did well so I figured I may as well go the whole way. Edited May 2, 2019 by lcookie
lcookie Posted May 2, 2019 Author #125 Share Posted May 2, 2019 This day started off just like the others. Dad up at O-Dark-30 while Mamma and the Tot enjoy the abyss of darkness that interior cabins provide. I got up and headed to deck 8 to catch sail in and maybe the sunrise. We ported just in time to have the sunrise hidden behind the hills of the island. On the bay side there were several boats anchored down. I am sure there will be more as the peak season gets closer. On the dock side you could see some of the damage the storms had caused. Off in the distance you can see the anchors for the sky buckets that take you to the top of the hill to overlook the bay. I wanted to take a ride but was not sure how long we would be at the beach today.
