Seaside Spring Break Cruise - March 30, 2019

The trip took us through the City and along the Countryside.  It was a much better experience than the typical taxi ride.

Not sure how much power he had but you can bet he wasn't willing to trade with one of us.  He easily topped out at twice the speed we did. 

 

I tried this move a couple of o times but Teenie kept shifting her weight the wrong way.  I think she was doing it on purpose!

As we ride along the beach I could not help but note how much calmer the water was this trip.  Last time here you could barely stand at the water's edge without getting tossed around.  We only had an hour here due to the mix-up mix-up earlier at the ATV shop.  For this reason we decided to just hang out by the pool and grab a quick bite to eat.  Was no need to get in the ocean for such a short time.

 

 

 

 

The kiddos did not mind.  To them water is water.  Amazingly, they ran into their friend they had been playing with on the boat for the past couple days.  Small World!

While the kiddos were playing I took a quick stroll along the beach.

 

Look at those swales.  Perfect size for a good day at the beach.

 

The sand at this beach is what I like to call soft and sticky.  It is easy on the skin but clings to any part of the body it touches.  Last trip here it took over a month to get it out of Teenie's head.

 

 

I wanted to get a shot of some planes landing and taking off.  Unfortunately, this is the only one I could get.

After my brief walk along the beach, I went back to the pool area and relaxed until it was time to go.  We ordered some lunch for which they promised would only take 15 minutes to deliver.  Well, 40 minutes later it arrived.  We wolfed down the quesadilla to knock the dust off of us and then took the remainder back with us for the ride home.

As luck would have it a plane was approaching as we were leaving on the quads.  No time like the present so we took the time to catch it on film.

We saw like 3 planes take off before we left the airport area.

Back at the ranch we unloaded and got ready to head back to the ship but there was a BIG problem.  No tour bus!  For whatever reason there was no bus there to take us back to the port.  They instead gave us rides back to the port on the quads.   We were actually unaware of the situation for a bit as we were inside the shop soaking up the AC and eating the second half of our lunch.  No pics of the food but the grill chicken BLT and seafood poorboy with crabmeat were off the hook.

 

I really can't imagine how they screwed that up but they did.  The better question for me was since the return trip was somewhat uncontrolled as the group was broken up, would the ship have to wait on you if you were late boarding.  Fortunately, that question did not have to be answered.

In the alternate universe the ladies took the water taxi over to the Great Bay and the downtown area for a relaxing day of shopping and lunch.

When we got back to the pot things were bouncing with activity.

This also included trying to get back on the boat

 

 

Another problem with short port days.  Everyone trying to reboard at the same time.

Not too long after boarding we are pushing off the dock headed out to sea.

 

Remember that sand I told you about?  Look how it stuck to my skin inside my shoes.

Welcome to Seaday 3!  Just like our port at San Juan we get to spend the vast part of the day out at sea.  This gives us more time to enjoy the boat.  Of course the kiddos had plans and we were more than willing to oblige.  They spent the next 4 plus hours at the waterpark.

There's that look of surprise on her face.  After all these years I can still catch her totally off guard.

Now I ain't no smart man but I can say these kids got it pretty good.  They had such a great time at the aqua park.  

 

The only issue I had with the aqua park was lack of seating.  See we are from the school of watch your kids.  If you wanted to be at the park the only seating area was the lip of the pool.  We took up residence in the chairs and loungers just upstairs.  We took turns checking the rail to make sure things were okay.

After our 30 minute hold out for our food to digest (is this really a thing or just something passed down by our parents that we simply don't question) we head up to take on the water slides.

Next was some zip line action

 

 

 

 

All the while the kiddos were still enjoying the water park.

I was even able to pry Teenie away from the pool long enough to ride the slides.

 

 

I found the less body contact on this slide the faster you could go.  lifting my legs up really helped.

 

 

 

We made a bet on who would win the racing slide.  You already know what the prize would be - CHOCHOLATE for the winner. (as if we were not going to get it anyway)

 

 

 

From these rub it in smiles yall can tell who won.  What I can't decipher is is she happier she beat me or that she gets chocolate!

As the day runs out the kiddos play strong.  Meanwhile, the adults start to wind down.

 

 

 

We hung out topside until 6 pm when the water parks closed.  Next was a trip to the room to get ready for part 3 of the day (nightlife).

 

He could have used those towels to dry off.

 

The eyes don't lie.  This one is running on fumes.

 

Mama left the spa and was already in the room relaxing when we go there.

Another thing I noticed about MSC was that they closed up the pool areas and stored the deck chairs at what I seemed to feel was way early.
