Best NYC Car Service?

We're looking for a car service in NYC that we can use for airport pick-up (JFK), and to transport us to the Brooklyn port a few days later.  Any suggestions of good companies that are reasonably priced, on time, and who have clean cars?  Many thanks!

There are two major services which are pretty much the same, from what I gather. (We've been happy users of Dial7 for almost 10 years, but dear friends swear by Carmel)

Also, Arecibo gets good reviews - especially in Brooklyn and Queens, where they're based

A friend recently used Dial7 to get from the QM2 at Brooklyn to Newark. She thought they were very good.

To get home to NJ from Brooklyn, I've used Dial7 and Uber and been happy with both.

 

Because a lot of these services rely on gps, you need to give them the address of the cruise port. It's 72 Bowne Street.

Dial 7 has an app which works very much like the Uber app. It's nice to see on a map where your car & driver is en route to pick you up.

We've used Dial 7 about 5 times (maybe more) and have always had great experience.  Professional drivers, nice cars, reliable, reasonable prices.

We used Arecibo from hotel in Manhattan to Red Hook.  We would recommend.  Although they are based in Brooklyn after phoning for a car it arrived very quickly so they must have had cars around in Manhattan.

Since so many votes for Dial7 here, I'll add one for Carmel.

We have used Carmel regularly from airports (including Newark, as well as JFK) to an from various hotel locations in NYC, and will fall under the "Swears by them" group.

We have often called in advance, and they were present when we needed then.

They also have an app.

We have used Dial7 several times in the past with no problems. But last time the driver got hopelessly lost and tried to drop us in the middle of Brooklyn. He spoke very little English and it really was a journey from hell. We were in the taxi 3 hours. At the end of it he managed to say guess there no tip!!

Dial 7 seems to be getting the most votes here, but lodge172, your last story about them makes me a little nervous.  You also called the car a “taxi?”  Is Dial7 a taxi company, without SUVS or Town Cars?

We always use Dial 7. They have SUVs and Town Cars. For us they’ve been clean and well-maintained. The cars we’ve had were large enough to carry us and all our luggage in comfort. We will use them again when we are back in the NYC area.

Our travel agent booked our transportation from LaGuardia airport to our NYC hotel and from our hotel to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal with Embarque car service (866-444-2144).  They have an app avalable which will show the vehicle's location and a photo of your driver.   This was really helpful at LaGuardia with all of the construction going on.   At our hotel, the car was waiting for us at the front door.   We would definately us this car service again in the future.
