Viscus121 Posted May 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2019 Hey all, Will be in Bonaire in October on the Celebrity Summit, and the SO has picked this stop as the spot where we're snorkeling! Does anyone have any suggestions on excursion providers and locations to snorkel? We're both very fit and would love as much time in the water as possible on great reefs! Additionally, I've always wanted to do snorkeling where you hold onto the pod engines if someone might have an additional suggestion for that. We have booked with Woodwind. I have read many threads on Cruise Critic and just about every one said to use Woodwind. They are the best!!
CntPAcruiser Posted May 23, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2019 We have used Woodwind twice, and they are the best snorkel provider we have used in any port we've visited. They typically divide the snorkelers up into advanced, intermediate, and beginner groups, so you can pick your level of intensity. Woodwind provides the equipment, including prescription masks if needed and full-face masks if desired, as well as shorty wetsuits and sun protection. They are amazing, helpful, kind, and provide a great meal as part of the excursion. They also have a dive photographer from whom you can purchase a thumb drive of pics of the snorkeling same-day. He makes sure to get a couple of shots of each snorkeler/couple, as well as amazing views of the reefs, ocean, and specimen sea life.
trophy_23 Posted May 23, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2019 (edited) Another vote for woodwind! We had a wonderful time with them in Feb. The great organization of skill/experience levels into groups made it nice for everyone. The food provided was excellent as well. ingeegirl Posted June 13, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2019 We have been going to Bonaire for the past several years and have used Woodwind each year. Last year added we Sea Cow to the itinerary as well. Both are excellent and will provide a great experience. We will use both again this year and hope to add another vendor to sample. We also take the water taxi to Klein Bonaire and do the drift snorkel on our own. I know - we are so lucky to be able to spend several weeks on this beautiful island.

We're going with them next Feb and wonder if we should bother packing our shorty wetsuits?
trophy_23 Posted June 26, 2019 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2019 They had rash guard tops available and I think shorty wet suits as well. I had my own rash guard top and found the water to be quite comfortable. A couple people said they found it cold, but overall didn’t see anyone having issues with the temperature.
