TAMPA pre-cruise hotel

Not familiar with the city of Tampa and need suggestions for a pre-cruise hotel. Driving in the day prior to our Monday cruise and prefer a hotel with secure self-parking , not valet only.  Most of the port area hotels , it seems, have valet only so was looking in the Westshore area.  We are a senior couple traveling without younger folks so a nice secure area is important to us and we know nothing about the different areas of Tampa.

Also, since we will be parking at the Port , how will Monday a.m. traffic factor in to our drive to the Port ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check hotels in the Rocky Point area. Most offer cruise parking deals including a shuttle to the port.  Chase Suites, Hampton, etc.

Hampton Inn Ybor City offers free shuttle to/from the port(approx 1 mile) and self park though not free but has park and stay rates.

Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore - Airport Area 700 North Westshore Blvd Tampa, FL 33609   I used the above for the night before my cruise in January.  It was $219 for the night which included self-parking for 7 nights as well as a hearty full breakfast.  The hotel shuttle needs to be reserved as soon as you check in.  It will take you to the port as well as return you to the hotel if you are not in a hurry.  It was a very nice stay and very easy peasey!  Cheers and good luck.

 We stayed here a couple of weeks ago. Shuttle is very helpful and in walking distance to anywhere you'd like to go in Ybor City. Friends got park and cruise for $159/night.
