Can anyone suggest another route with maybe a stopover for a day or two that would not incur more than 10-11 hours at a time?

Scanning through some of the flights it looks like a stop in Frankfurt or Dubai gets you closest to your original request.  Flying through Frankfurt you'd have about 7.5 hours for your first flight followed by about 12.5 hours for your second flight.  Flying through Dubai you'd have about 12.5 hours for your first flight followed by about 7.5 hours to Singapore.

I'm a fan of the stopover, giving you the opportunity to spend some time in different locations to break up your travel even more.

Also look at Etihad (through Abu Dhabi) and Qatar (through Doha).  Depending on the current promotion, you can get free stopovers, as well as free or discounted hotel stays.  Same with Turkish through Istanbul.  Lots of choices - crunch the numbers and see what's most attractive to you.
