Hope sail away was great!

I saw this sailing had an earlier departure time due to tides and the ship’s size. Could you confirm what path you all ultimately take past Vancouver island?

If you read the Navigator notes on first page of patter embarkation day, it appears they took the Canadian inside passage.

Post 6 (from the OP) in this thread indicate the ship sailed around Vancouver Island.

Yes I read he believed they did, but hadn’t noticed the scenery.  Well at least it was the ships plan to sail the inside route. Which leads me to believe they’ve acquired the permit to do so. Read on a Facebook group today that someone embarking on the upcoming Sat 6/15 sailing received an email notifying her that the Royal will sail at 3:30, one hour early. Hopefully she will begin regularly sailing the inside route, we sail 8/3 on a B2B.

I’m sure I will, especially our route if it’s still uncertain. We’ll be extending our trip in CA before heading home, so a full report will most likely not come till after the 24th. There is a FB group Alaskan Cruises on Princess, lots of pictures and daily reports.

No, we went to Denali  on our first cruise years ago.

We are doing a land tour before, starting in Jackson Hole  And ending  in Calgary.  Four National Parks. Then fly to Vancouver.  Not a Princess tour,  though.

Interesting, we’ll fly to SF then drive Big Sur, head to Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite and back to SF to fly home. This is a first trip to all, even Alaska. Ideally we’d have done a cruisetour, but the price was right and we grabbed this B2B. I know this won’t be our only trip, we really want to see Denali. We’re trying to work out a trip to Glacier NP, the Rocky Mountaineer and Alaska. Still playing with ideas.

I love the trip you’ve planned, enjoy the parks, I know you will, they’re breathtaking!

Panda-really appreciate your posts and the platters.

2 questions if you don’t mind:

1) How has the Enclave been? Has it felt crowded when you’ve been in there? Think it’s worth the money?

2) Sorry if this is a basic question, will be my first trip this summer on Princess, but have you noticed if there are places showing live sporting events? Specifically the Women’s World Cup. Will be traveling around the Finals and would hate to miss it if the US and/or Canada are still playing!

Enclave never seemed crowded to me at all. Today (Glacier Bay) at about 3:15 (right after leaving) was the most crowded I've seen it and i still walked in and got a ceramic heated lounger. For me its worth it, but i know its a personal thing. For me, a massage or facial is probably $120-$130 plus tip and its a one time thing for an hour. I’ve enjoyed the Enclave every day.

I know sports is on in the casino bar, because dh watched the NBA finals two different times. Maybe on in other places (I’ll try and notice tomorrow) but since he saw it there first thats where he went back to watch.

PandaBear62, did you enjoy Glacier Bay?  I don't believe you've mentioned it, but perhaps I missed that post.  Or had you visited it on a prior cruise?  It's usually the highlight of an Alaskan cruise for most folks.

Yes we did. I didn't post most of our excursions, opinions on stuff, etc because i also have a trip report. I was just focusing on things people often ask about, such as menus and patters. I’ll post my trip report when we get home after the rail trip.

This is one of the best posts on here for me. I'm hoping on doing the same cruise in August.

Hope the beaver tail was good.

Another perk....the photographer was taking pictures in front of the glacier and we got one free for being a Sanctuary guest.

Definitely a great day!
