Traveler1524 Posted June 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2019 I'm looking for suggestions of what to do while in Gloucester. I will be in port September 30. I am not interested in whale watching tours. I was considering the 'Gloucester, Beauport Mansion & Rockport' tour with Holland America, but these tours are usually very large. Any suggestions for seeing the sights with a smaller group? Thank you
Rare 1025cruise Posted June 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2019 Might be hard to find local tours. Gloucester is not a normal port. Just to confirm, you will be in Gloucester, not docking in Boston?
Traveler1524 Posted June 16, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted June 16, 2019 Yes, my paperwork says Gloucester not Boston. It is a Holland America cruise from New York to Quebec City September 27-October 9, 2019. I have registered on the roll call for the cruise. Gennee Posted August 7, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Sorry I did not see this sooner but here is information from the Chamber of Commerce web site about guided tours in Gloucester and Cape Ann: https://business.capeannvacations.com/list/category/tours-attractions-218 I hope that helps! Mitch2016 Posted August 8, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2019 The Hammond Castle and Museum may be interesting for you. Also, the Cape Ann Museum has new exhibit of Winston Homer paintings. You can check out the Crows Nest bar.....The Perfect Storm was filmed in Gloucester and lots of photos from the movie, and the crew of the Andrea Gale that was lost at sea. The Rocky Neck Art Colony...lots of artisans and shops.

POF1234 Posted August 20, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2019 I was just in Gloucester this weekend. Hammond Castle is nice, there is a very nice Stage Fort Park with a lovely walk all around the harbor. Once you get into mid town, there are some shops and restaurants downtown. I like the Gloucester House and in particular their outdoor "Shack" it's right on the water and my husband and I ( and our dog ) spent a couple hours on the patio eating lobster. drinking beer and watching the fishing ships come in . ( OK - dog ate a hotdog - not a lobster).
