GPStoryteller Posted June 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2019 We will be finishing our land tour at the Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward before being driven to the Radiance on 6/5. Is there a place within walking distance to buy a few bottles of wine to take on board? Thanks in advance!
breezy_carol Posted June 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2019 I am interested in this as well. And also to get a 6 pack of soda.
mapleleaves Posted June 21, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2019 The Safewy grocery store is about 3/4 mile from the harbor.

Separate entrance & separate purchase. Rare rjm11 Posted June 21, 2019 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2019 As a side note I was kind of surprised by how limited the wine selection was in most stores in Alaska. They have lots of liquor options, and lots of beer options, but the wine was usually really limited (unless you like Arbor Mist! They had lots of flavors of that!) 🙂 So if you find something you like- you might want to stock up!
szubieta Posted June 21, 2019 #9 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Can you take aboard another bottle of wine, per person, from a port too?
Burry Posted June 21, 2019 #10 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Maybe it varies ship by ship, but with NCL you can't bring on any alcohol from the ports.

Some allow, some don't, and some allow you to bring wine but you have to pay a $15 corkage fee per bottle. This info should be on the cruiseline web site. Thank you, I found Princesses policy and they take any alcohol from you on the way back on the ship after a port day. ~S
GNplus2 Posted June 22, 2019 #13 Share Posted June 22, 2019 I just purchased two bottles of wine for embarkation at the Chevron gas station at Seward Hwy and North Harbor St. Surprisingly decent selection.

Thanks for this information. I was using google maps and found Gateway Liquor and Food Mart, the same address as the Chevron, and wondered if it would be a good place to shop. Did they also have soda (cans of Coke/ Pepsi)?

GPStoryteller Posted June 23, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted June 23, 2019 No wine, beer or liquor of any kind is sold in any grocery stores in MD- can't imagine it! But how convenient!
Burry Posted June 23, 2019 #17 Share Posted June 23, 2019 Actually they sell a large selection of beer and wine at one of the Giant grocery stores in Silver Spring, MD, but that is certainly the exception to the rule. It is much more prevalent in VA.
