hpeabody Posted June 30, 2019 #26 Share Posted June 30, 2019 I do not like the new terminology "water shuttle" it is a TENDER operation, why call it something else? I emailed Princess today to let them know how silly it is.

Although complimentary, I have been on some of the local boats where the crew practically begs for tips and has a tip jar by the exit.
2 cruises a year Posted June 30, 2019 #28 Share Posted June 30, 2019 5 hours ago, Quartzsite Cruiser said: On more than 100 cruises, we have been in ports where the ship’s tenders were used. In other ports, the port authority required the ship to use local boats for tender service. In our experience, the local boats were preferable as they could take more people on each run. In all cases, the local boats were complimentary. Also, in some ports to speed the tendering service, both ship’s tenders and local boats were used. "A ship's tender, usually referred to as a tender, is a boat, or a larger ship used to service or support other boats or ships, generally by transporting people or supplies to and from shore or another ship. Smaller boats may also have tenders, usually called dinghies." Local boats would be still be considered tenders.

ShipsAreTheBest Posted July 1, 2019 #30 Share Posted July 1, 2019 (edited) I noticed the change too. Don’t like it. I’m traveling on a ship. I’m ok with nautical terminology. I’m also ok with the ship moving, swaying, etc. It’s a ship, not a building. I expect it to move, even creak a little. That’s why I find traveling by ship much more interesting than staying at a land based resort. Edited July 1, 2019 by ShipsAreTheBest
