We are booked in OB (porthole) rooms mid ship on deck 5.  I saw it mentioned somewhere that deck 6 being restaurants , deck 5 can get noisy ? Is that true ?

Also any porthole views blocked ?

OK - an OB is an Ocean View with large picture window

(windows are NOT blocked - those are on deck 8 looking at life boats)

With your cabin number we can place your location on the JEWEL.

Or you can see for yourself using this LINK:

https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/Norwegian-Jewel

Click on Deck 5 look for you cabin then click on Deck 6 to see what is above you.

Restaurants on deck 6 port side mid-ship Le Bistro

MDR Azura aft of Le Bistro full width of ship

MDR Tsars all the way aft full width of ship

As to the NOISE factor - unlikely these restaurants have carpeted floors and operate well outside of sleeping hours.

Interior of OB cabin with large picture window:

Oceanview Stateroom Picture

Exterior view of OB cabins - the small square ones below the large ones with 2 vertical frames.

This view at the starboard side mid-ship

Life boats are on deck 8 - the glass panel is O'Sheehans

The deck below the life boats is the Promenade deck (life boat stations)

Deck 6 is the one with large windows with 2 vertical frames (restaurants located here)

We stayed in one of the picture window cabins on the Jewel back in 2007.  No issues at all with noise.  What we found annoying was that it's hard to get there from here.  The aft elevators don't to down to deck 5 -- which isn't an issue as the rooms are all mid-ship or forward.  However, in order to get to the MDR at the back of deck 6, you had to go up to deck 7 as you can't go from forward or midship to aft on deck 6.  The kitchens are in the way.  The forward/midship venues on deck 6 didn't have the same problem, just the main dining room.

Been a long time ago, but if I remember correctly that MDR Is actually half a flight of stairs down from deck 7 to enter the MDR, and then another half flight of stairs from the reception desk down to the seating level.  There was one elevator for passengers with accessibility that you could get to from the main floor of the dining room.

It wasn't a huge deal, but do be aware of it.

A few midship deck 5 OV cabins on Jewel do have portholes but they are not category OB.  All OB cabins have large picture windows.

Now if it’s the ones right off the elevator lobby and they open the gangway on deck 5 midship on port days you will hear noises.  It would be worse if they open the gangway on deck 4 as well.

Wow !!! Did not think about this !!! Some of the rooms are about 2 rooms away from the gangway !!! 🤨 at this point it is what it is !!!

Did you take your cabin number and find out where on deck 5 yours is located and then match it

up with the exterior views of the ship ? Only a few cabins are affected by the embarking/dis... and

this is at ports of call - The Promenade deck 7 is the primary boarding and disembarking deck at

the origin and termination points of a cruise and would pose no problem to you unless in one of

those few cabins under the gangway.
