airbysea Posted January 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2006 How are the cruise lines rated? Like hotels you have 1,2,3,4,and 5 star? Are cruise lines rated like that. whats considered Budget, Moderate and Expensive??? We have been on NCL, Disney, Carnival, and booked on RCCL and want to go on a Celebrity or Holland America, how would you rank these cruise lines??? VentureMan_2000 Posted January 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Depends who you are talking to. I rate Carnival 5 cocktails out of five...:D
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Yes, there are rating systems for the various cruise lines and cruise ships. The Berlitz Ocean Cruising Book rates all the ships on various aspects of the cruising experience from food to entertainment to the ship, etc. and then gives a total score per ship and associated stars. It's a good book to pick up. Celebrity Cruise Lines tends to rate highest for the Mass Market Cruise Lines in most areas. Other Mass Market Cruise Lines include Princess, Carniva, Royal Caribbean, Costa, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Holland and a few others. Of course all of this comes down to ones taste and how much they want to spend on a cruise. Keith
kitty9 Posted January 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2006 You're going to get some arguments here, and probably some flaming, but I would put something like EasyCruise as budget; Costa, MSC and NCL right above that; Carnival, Disney and RCCI next; Princess, HAL and Celebrity; and then you have your luxury lines like Seabourn, Silversea, Crystal and Radisson. Get a book called "Complete Guide to Cruising" and they give stars to all the ships, not just cruise lines, but individual ships.
