Sommeliers

We have friends who are sommeliers and know the process that they went through to receive their level certifications. Am curious to know, what's the process for the sommeliers that are on board Celebrity's ships?

My experiences with the "sommeliers " have been mixed.

Like most staff in all dining rooms they are rushed off their feet. 

 

Once upon a time.........reduced staff..blah blah...no interaction..blah....

 

Ask for a wine list...see the look of panic ....it`s the usual "white or red?"..

 

I think the main qualification for a Celebrity "sommelier" would be the ability to roller skate.

We have had a TERRIBLE and RUDE wine "steward" in BLU on Infinity

When I asked for specifically a white .. the wine guy was not only not helpful--he was rude because I "didn't take his wine pairing" In fact--another couple in BLU heard him and complained to the M'D about this wine guy

 

I doubt that most of the wine stewards have any sommelier credential 

From what we saw of the menus--the wines suggested are likely corp/whats been purchased

 

Will be interested to see if she comes back to this board to post. So far I haven't seen any responses on any of the threads
