Rare uktog Posted July 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2019 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to anyone docking in Edinburgh from the end of the week but Lothian Buses are starting strike action on Friday August 2nd. It will also affect airport buses More details here https://www.lothianbuses.com/news/2019/07/potential-strike-action-from-2-august/ I will come back with updates as we all hope it will be called off but it is a long running dispute and feelings are it seems a little high. tillys mom Posted July 27, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2019 Please keep us posted. We had planned to take the x99 bus into Edinburgh and then the HOHO around town. Do you have any suggestions for a Plan B?

We had planned to take the x99 bus into Edinburgh and then the HOHO around town. Do you have any suggestions for a Plan B? As you are coming into South Queensferry the train from Dalmeny is your best option. I do have some hopes for you 1. The government is intervening but feelings are deep seated over issues of bullying 2. A few services will run though less frequently my guess is as tourism is so important the X99 would be a priority 3. There are other HOHO providers. The only issue is it will be traffic chaos as people needing to work etc will use cars. Id ignore Uber their demand pricing will be ouch. Fingers crossed they call it all off. One final thought, if it does go ahead and you’re in town in a cafe or bar and the service is slow, cut them some slack. Very few service staff in town live near work or have access to cars, buses are their lifeline. So the establishment will either be short staffed or the servers and kitchen staff will have already walked six miles or more to work. Hope to be back with better news soon.
