Select dining - table sharing

Hello, can someone help me with my dining related questions for my upcoming cruise on the Connie:

1/ Is a table for 2 available for both select dining as fixed time?

2/ When or where should I specify I prefer to have a table for 2?

3/ Would you recommend select dining over fixed time? I can imagine it's less busy and stressed?

Thanks!

1. Yes, but very hard to obtain for fixed time dining. Track down the Maitre'd and make a request on the first night.

2. If you have select you can phone using the number on the daily planner or simply ask at the door to the MDR.

3. Everyone prefers something different but in our opinion you should always request select dining for flexibility.

We always use select dining, but on some ships it does feel pretty chaotic at times. Hated the main dining room on Constellation last year for example. I imagine that if you can get a nice table for 2 in fixed dining it is less stressful as you'll know where you are sitting each evening and get to know the staff better. Not sure how many tables for 2 there are though.

One thing to note on Celebrity is that the tables for 2 are always very, very close together and it is almost like having a table for 4 anyway as it feels rude not to acknowledge the people sitting about 10 inches away from you.

A tip for Connie is that there are some nice tables as you walk in to the restaurant on the left hand side. They are close together, but they are in a quiet area and they are close to a window. I think the ceiling is lower too so it doesn't have that 'chaotic' feel to it like you do as you walk further in to the main dining area.

Tables for two are available with both types of seating. Harder with fixed seating though. Personally I would not book anything else but select dining. I want to decide when to have dinner based on  The activities of the day.

When you come to the desk at the dining room let them know if you want to share or have a table for two. They might tell you that you have to wait a while for a table for two. Then it’s up to you to decide what to do.

Thanks for the replies. Currently I'm on the waiting list for select dining, so I'll probably just have to talk to the maître D the first night and ask for a table for 2. Specialty dining plan in the Constellation isn't interesting as there's only Qsine and Tuscan. ☺️
