Transfer from Hamburg port to airport

We will arrive at the Hamburg port on the QM2 early on a Sunday.  We need to get to the Hamburg airport.  Time is a factor.  I realize that one can take a cab, but was wondering if there are suggestions for more efficient methods of making the trip from the port to the airport - such as a car-for-hire, etc.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

we did one airport to ship and one ship to airport.....we let cunard handle everything....and they did quite well

There are Taxi's at the Steinwerder Cruise Terminal where you will arrive. I would think they would be as efficient as a car service, and likely cost less.

Have you checked with the Tour Desk?  There are often transfers available from the pier to the airport.  It may also get you an earlier desembarkation time.

I had a 1030 flight between HAM and LHR with BA and definiitely worried if it would work.

 

I chose to self disembark with my own luggage so got off the ship as soon as they allowed passengers to.  I was in a cab (not booked, there were plenty available) at 7.45 and got to the airport around 8.15am and was surprised to find the BA desk was not even open, it opened 2 hours before departure time.   

 

If it's a long haul flight, 3 hour check in is required, but as you can see it is doable but definitely get off the ship as soon as possible.  If it docks late, then all bets are off.

I usually use sixt mydriver ( app / website) for a more personal / luxurious  transportation by private car.

Very good limo service, and prices are ok. sometimes not much more than a taxi.

Steinweder?  Either take a taxi or the cruise lines transfer. Public transportation is almost non existant at this terminal. You need a shuttlebus taking you to the train station (suburban train) at Veddel. Then you have to change the train to another line to get to the airport.

 

Altona and Cruise Center are much easier.
