Brewers Beach Info

Will be in Tortola in February for the third time.  Went to CGB the last two times and it's just too crowded. This time we'd like to try Brewers Beach.

 

Can someone please advise the following:

 

Cost of taxi from port to Brewers

Availability and cost of loungers/umbrellas

Availabiity of food and drink for purchase

Same as CGB, $8pp each way via shared safari taxi.

Can’t help with the lounges/umbrellas.

Nicole’s is the only beach bar, they were just serving drinks until recently when the kitchen was reopened so now food and drinks are available.

We were just there last week.  Lounges were $5 each.  We were only there a couple of hours and snorkeled so I didn't ask about umbrellas.  Bar and Restaurant were open.  No more than 20 people on the beach.

How is the water at brewers? From the pictures I’ve seen it looks like the shore break is wavier than CGB?

Depends on the conditions, both can be very calm. We’ve stayed at Myett’s (In CGB) in May during heavy swells and couldn’t even get in the water it was so rough...

How was the snorkeling? We’ve enjoyed snorkeling from shore before in Tortola but it’s been years and I can’t remember the beach. We might give Brewers beach a try based on info in cc.

It was probably Brewers, or maybe Smuggler’s Cove but that is more secluded. Do you remember if there was one beach bar there? If so it was Brewers Bay where Nicole’s beach bar is located...no amenities at SC...

The snorkeling was great.  There were 5 people there who had been to Trunk Bay on St. Johns the day before and they said the snorkeling was much better at Brewers Bay Beach.

If we taxi to Brewer's Beach, who do we rent chairs from?  At Nicole's Bar or is their a rental place?  We will be there on 12/27 and there are very few excursions to Tortola.

Last I knew Nicole’s rented lounges but someone who has been recently can help.

There are actually several excellent excursion ideas for you on Tortola and neighboring islands, and you can learn about them here. Highly recommend self-excursions over the cruise ship excursions...

Are there a steady supply of taxis at Brewers or even CGB? I don't want to have to arrange a time and stick to it (plus that always makes me nervous if they don't come back). I just want to be able to come and go as we want.

There will be several safari taxis dropping and picking up day visitors at CGB, that’s a daily routine. Taxis will also return to Brewers and your driver may be one of them...

You can arrange for a private taxi as well if you aren’t ready to return...

Snorkeling was great!  We were with people who had been to Trunk Bay the day before and they said the snorkeling was better.  It's great because it's not crowded.  

 

We had arranged with our Taxi driver to pick us up at a pre arranged time.
