Rippo Posted August 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2019 (edited) Thinking about a Caribbean cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam this Spring. Family of 3, including a 14 year old. We would prefer mid-ship, lower and a nice balcony. I've read about the possible view of the tops of the lifeboats, I don't think we'd care about that, but we would want a good balcony and a quiet cabin. Suggestions? Thanks. oakridger Posted August 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2019 (edited) Welcome to Cruise Critic Rippo. For three people with a teen I recommend a Signature Suite (extra bathroom space!) on deck 6 midship. You can see the tops of the lifeboats when looking straight down, but it has not bothered me a bit. It's quiet with decks of cabins only above and below. Verandas on deck 5 midship have the top of lifeboats right at floor level of the veranda so are in your view more. I love the Nieuw Amsterdam! ~Nancy Edited August 14, 2019 by oakridger added comment

OP, look through the pictures on http://halfacts.com/signature-class/ to see what the balconies and views of the lifeboats are like. On the N.A. we loved our deck 8 mid-ship cabin with a 7-ft deep balcony and an overhang from the Lido that gave us extra shade, but that doesn't fit your preference for lower.
