After my cruise on the Breeze in May I was pretty sure I was done with Carnival, but as long as they keep a Spirit class ship in Tampa I'll keep sailing on those at least. Compared to the Breeze: -The ship was way, way less crowded. Never had trouble finding a lounger, never waited in long lines, and didn't even have to arrive too early for the comedy club. -The Serenity is the best in the fleet and a great use of the aft pool area -There's so much more open deck space per person than on the Breeze -The service was much friendlier and faster, with more staff per passenger -There weren't sales pitches for the fun shops, casino, spa, etc every 5 minutes like on the breeze -I think Frankie is a better CD than Schwartz -Getting on and off in the ports is a lot faster since there's less people overall on the ship I just wanted to share my experience since I've seen a lot of the same complaints that I had about the Breeze on the other newer/refurb ships like the Horizon, Sunrise, etc All good? Not for us,,,,,there really is no all great! We hated the vibration in the rear of the ship, felt it in our deck 5 OV and in the rear dining area! We also didn't like that there was only 1 dining room! We did like the set up of the buffet. This class is our least favorite of the Carnival ships! We'd chose a 5 day Paradise over a 7 day Miracle out of Tampa, and have several times!
glrounds Posted August 21, 2019 #52 Share Posted August 21, 2019 Have sailed on all four Spirit Class ships and without a doubt these are my favorites. A "Goldilocks" size in my opinion.
JMAE Posted August 24, 2019 #53 Share Posted August 24, 2019 We love the Spirit class, just the right size for us and they have a great layout.
ABQrobin Posted October 4, 2019 #54 Share Posted October 4, 2019 We are sailing on the Spirit in Alaska July 2020 and have some questions.... we sailed Alaska on the Legend in 2016, had a balcony room, but I can't remember if there was a fridge in the room. That trip it didnt' really matter, but this trip I need to travel with meds that must be kept refrigerated. So fridge in balcony rooms? We are also thinking of doing the Legend out of Tampa this coming Feb but haven't booked yet. Still deciding. The Legend has been upgraded since we were on it, adding Guys, Iguana, Alchemy, etc. In Alaska it didn't really matter, you are on shore doing excursions almost every day. We had a fantastic time and I agree the ship never felt crowded at all. We have just done the Vista our last 2 cruises and I am totally sick of crowds and noise that comes with 4k people. Keeping my fingers crossed that we will have a much different experience this time!

All great ships. Loved the bad acid trip comment, given it's the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. I like the Farcus décor. After all, they're the fun ships. Roz Well said, Roz and dead on accurate. I think that class on the HAL line built so many years ago was called the Vista Class. Spirit class also my favorite. Have sailed all four. Never crowded. Always Farcus-interesting glitzy. 🙂
Rare rafinmd Posted December 11, 2019 #57 Share Posted December 11, 2019 Good to hear. I'm not really a Carnival person but booked for 22 days on the Legend, bringing it home from Barcelona. Roy
Lew Port Posted February 2, 2020 #58 Share Posted February 2, 2020 We are headed to Alaska on Spirit and am looking forward to it. Just got off Sunrise and it was a bit crowded at times
SMSACE6 Posted February 2, 2020 #59 Share Posted February 2, 2020 while I have never been on this class of ship, I have learned over the years that I prefer the smaller size ships, and have read and enjoyed many reviews on this site and others of this class of ship. I will say that, if and when I can ever get back to cruising on ships again, I would love to do one on this class of ship, especially now that Legend is sailing out of Tampa, which is a cruise port that I would like to sail out of again. I have not been on a larger ship of Carnival than Conquest class, and might consider Dream class ships, but I doubt that I would like anything larger. This just my opinion, and I know everyone has their own likes and dislikes.
CCLcruiser91 Posted February 2, 2020 #60 Share Posted February 2, 2020 We have enjoyed sailing on the Spirit class ships over the years. We like the location of the Steakhouse and the layout of the ship. Spirit x 2 (2003 & 2006) Miracle x 4 (2016, 2017, 2017, 2019) Pride x 1 (2006) Legend x 1 (2019 - Alaska - aft cabin - loved it! - ready to go again!)
