Just off the NCL SUN -

Wanted to write a short review about the 5 day sailing on the Sun that sailed on 8/24.

Embarkation & Disembarkation get an “A”. Showed up at around 12::30pm and basically walked right on. Walked off the ship at 7:30am today and there was also 0 wait...even got an empty elevator right away.

The ship itself shows its age even tho it went thru dry dock just last year. I had an Oceanview room which was quite spacious except for the bathroom which was the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen.

The food onboard was an absolute disgrace. Probably the worst food I’ve had on a cruise. NCL must be really cutting corners because I get better food at a cafeteria. Never tried a specialty restaurant, always either MDR, buffet, or sports bar. I also hate how after midnight you can only

get food at the sports bar which has very slow service and is usually packed until 2am because it’s the only place to get food. The buffet was very small, had little variety, and the taste was very bad.

Drink service was ok. As we left Port Canaveral we went to the main bar by the pool and they were already out of Stella. Seriously???

The entertainment and the entertainment staff was mediocre at best. The cruise director was probably the worst one I’ve seen on a ship. Everything just felt forced and the activities were repetitive.

All in all I’d say it was a below par experience. Keeps reminding me why I love cruising with Celebrity. Hadn’t cruises with NCL in 2 years and the quality seems to be going down the drain.

I was on the 5 day sailing just before you, I expected some changes, the CD was on his last stint on our cruise...dude was HIGHlarious.  Food in La Cucina and the Los Lobos was on point.  Rock show wasn't bad...didn't see any other shows, my Wife said the adult comedy was good...bar service around the pool was great, the dollars thrown the way of the waiters was the difference.

Add to that, the casino craps table was good to me to the tune of around 1K.....so that was nice.  We usually grabbed a quick breakfast on the small buffet on the rear of the ship.  Only 1 MDR meal (hard for me to critique that).

The Sun is no "away' class ship, but I thought the balcony room I had was nice enough...lots of rain though, did y'all have the same issues?  We just grinned and rolled with the punches in port...Conch Train in the pouring rain isn't as fun as it could be...

oh yeah, the premium plus beverage package was nice, Whistle Pig BOURBON is good stuff.

We just got off the Sun this morning as well. We had a great experience all around and really good weather the whole time. I knew what to expect. The food in the MDR was good and the buffet was just ok. I tipped with each drink and had non stop pool side service getting strong drinks and even buckets of beer at a time. Ship was lacking entertainment. I saw people drinking Stella last night ..... disembark fastest we have ever had.

We were prepared for bad weather but it was actually not bad at all. A few showers here and there but that’s it. The sea was extremely calm. The new CD was a woman.

wow, sorry you had such bad food.... I was on the SUN in May and the food was fabulous... only ate in the buffet and MDR but loved everything... had heard the buffet was so small - I didn't think it was small - of course, it wasn't as large as on the Epic but we had half the amount of people so it was fine.

There are actually two buffets on the ship...at least the Sun I recently sailed on.  🙂
