rollingjay Posted October 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2019 We are on the Royal in Dec and it goes out of pier 91 because I understand it is to big for pier 93. My question is can you still carry on your own luggage and are the luggage scanners the same size as pier 93 ? Thanks for any information

jondfk Posted October 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Yes, sailed on Royal just 3 weeks ago. Luggage drop is well marked and will seem familiar to you. Given that the terminal is, as noted elsewhere, quite small the security check is actually done right at the door. Early arrivers queued up in an orderly fashion outside the terminal. There is a small canopy area to queue up before security - it won't keep very many people dry if the weather turns against you but worked okay for our September departure. Once inside, again, it's a small place, you'll be directed along. Medallions one direction, medallion abstainers another, thereafter there is a very small Suite / Elite waiting area which fills quite rapidly especially if boarding is delayed at all. In any case, yes you can drag your carryon luggage along as normal and there is an escalator from the terminal lounge to the boarding platform. There are elevators too but these were limited to mobility challenged guests (to be honest we didn't try to use one so I'm not sure how 'limited', access actually was especially later in the boarding process. There's a pretty good argument for arriving here later in the boarding process if you (unlike I) are able to put aside your excitement to board. Many people told us they arrived after 1:30 or so and walked straight through the check in a boarding processes with zero delays . . . if only I could get my irrational brain to integrate this sort of good advice!
rollingjay Posted October 21, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Thanks for your help. We don’t need elevators and usually leave our hotel around noon so we should be in good shape. I know it is so hard to wait till later to board but so much smarter to wait. CC people are the BEST !!
