Own pillow

Just wondering if anyone has taken there own  pillows on board, and are they allowed.

I have never taken a pillow but I have seen plenty of people carrying them on board over the years so I think you will be OK.

I have a bad back and need a very flat pillow so I've taken my own a couple of times now

Always take my pillow on planes or boats or by car, never had a problem yet.

I often wonder if I should do the same, on every cruise ship I have been on 2 pillows is too high and one too low for me, and after trying all their alternatives I have never found a comfortable combination.

Yes but also take a distinctive pillow case/cover, if yours is plain white it might get mixed up with the cruise lines ones.  A vacuum packaging bag can be useful, we have the type you roll up  to get excess air out.

I always take my own pillow if sailing from Southampton.  The ones on board are too squishy for me, I like something firmer.  On my recent cruise on  Aurora our Cabin Steward put a P&O pillow case over my pillow case - as we were on for a month - so I could have a clean one each time the bed linen was changed.  I'm afraid I didn't think to bring another pillow case so I could change it!  Our Steward told me it's not at all unusual for people to want to bring their own pillow.  I put it in a small case along with other things like rain jackets if we're going somewhere it might be wet.  It's amazing what you can get in even a small case as well as the pillow.

Pillows squah down easilly, vacuum bags make it go solid and not so easy to pack around. I always put my pillow in a cupboard each morning so no problems with mix up or anything else.
