Bar Server in MDR Tipping Question

 We all have the drink package and usually we all have two glasses of wine with dinner.  We will be in the MDR each night.  I was hoping to give the bar server a tip on the first day asking for automatic wine at the beginning and 1/2 way through our meal so we don't have to look for him.   We did this a few years ago and it worked great and I would think the server would appreciate it especially since it is an easy order.   It was nice to arrive at our table with a glass of wine waiting.   Has anyone ever done this or have a similar suggestion?

When I was on the Navigator in September my waiter remembered my wine on the second night and as he said hello asked if I'd like that wine again. It was on my table at the same time as the bread. I didn't notice a separate "Bar Waiter".

I don't see why this would not work.

For the last few years it's always been our assistant waiter who has sorted out wine in the MDR. They are usually very good after the first night.

That has also been our experience

Yes, usually assistant waiter who takes care of wine.  In a large group, we would rotate each night tipping $10 to the assistant waiter because we all drank wine and all had the drink package.  It has worked well for us and never had an empty glass.
