bennybear Posted November 10, 2019 #26 Share Posted November 10, 2019 It is frightening. The Koningsdam was drifting for more than an hour this fall in the Med. emergency lights came on, but no engines. But you just don’t know what may happen! Thankfully they got things back on line but we had tugs and coast guard escorting us through the straits of Messina, just in case!

Toilets and a/c were not working. We were told not to take the elevators but many people were still using them. Lighting in cabin was fine. The dining room was only serving cold items and scrambled eggs during the outage. All was restored in less than 2 hrs and tendering was up and running as soon as the main systems came back online. Crew did an excellent job and staff cabin kept everyone up to date. Thank you for the update.
Krazy Kruizers Posted November 10, 2019 #28 Share Posted November 10, 2019 We have been on several ships -- various cruise lines including HAL -- where ships lost power. Scary.

Yes, "ship happens," but everyone deals with it more calmly if they understand what's happening. I hope that any further surprises in your cruise are good ones! AryMay Posted November 13, 2019 Author #31 Share Posted November 13, 2019 Just one last post now that we are back in Ft. Lauderdale... Here is a photo of the tenders and tug keeping the Veendam in place a few days ago. Not something we have seen before. Eventually the tug got tied up to the ship... No other issues since then. Getting ready to head out this afternoon on week #2. Life is good!
