RecoveryDude Posted November 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2019 Cruising to Belize in January. Trying to find something to do. Interested in "San Pedro" (Which is the Isle that Madonna sings about in La Isla Bonita) - Wondering if anyone has taken the Ferry from Belize City to this island and if so what you did there for the day?? Thanks!
ABQrobin Posted November 13, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2019 It is a long distance, there are places just as nice closer to cruise anchor area. Look at Coral Breeze trip to Caye Caulker, half the distance.
Rare crewsweeper Posted November 13, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) Given the ferry schedule, you won't have a ton of time to spend in San Pedro. Take a taxi to Secret Beach. A bit tourista but very popular. Then maybe grab lunch at Blue Water Grill at the Sunbreeze Hotel, on the waterfront. But do play close attention to ferry schedule for return trip. The schedule is on Belize time and it will most likely be different from ship time. Take note of the time for the last tender back to your ship (ship time) and return so that you get back at least an hour before that. Sometimes ferries are slow or are not exactly on time. SunshineGirl100 Posted November 16, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2019 the water taxi ferries ALL stop at Caye Caulker before continuing on to San Pedro. San Pedro is a half hour more past Caye Caulker...so it adds an hour onto your travel time. you can get off at caye caulker and walk around or rent a bike...we don't have real cars on our streets, just bikes and golf carts. you can walk front street along the beach and you will pass by all the restaurants and shops... caye caulker is closer to belize city, its smaller so easier to see and its cheaper than San Pedro. While both islands have their good traits, as you are on a limited time schedule, I would definitely recommend visiting Caye Caulker in stead of San Pedro. Rare sambamama Posted June 20, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 20, 2021 So much to do in Caye Caulker! Go to the Split to swim and chill at the Lazy Lizard. Take a snorkel trip to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley. Go to the Northwind Beach Club on the North part (almost undeveloped) of Caye Caulker and see a gorgeous beach. Go for a sail or a fishing trip or perhaps dive. Or just eat some of the freshest fish ever!
