There was a note in the cabin last night that said to allow 72 hours for Elite laundry. Thanks for getting back. Last year I tried to cut back and thought I would use the elite laundry services, and then, well we got that note too, and sometimes it took 4 days. I will go being prepared. Someone on these posts mentioned to check your account and if it showed up there it was done and to let the room steward know. That was helpful to know. mellon1 Posted December 8, 2019 #78 Share Posted December 8, 2019 Enjoying your photos, patters and tips on the entertainment...not to mention the food reviews. Can you let us know how long laundry is taking to come back? Last year we were on the Crown and it was 3-4 days. Starting to look at my packing list as you inspired me. 😀Thanks. Do you know if you can hook up a dvd player to the TV?
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 8, 2019 Author #79 Share Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) I have one complaint about the decor. The elevators were looking shabby on my last Crown voyage. I notice that they’ve applied a gaudy shiny gold appliqué to all the elevator doors and frames, but even aside from the gaudiness of the color it’s not wearing well. Do you know if you can hook up a dvd player to the TV? Yes you can. We had brought many of our own movies but since the TV system had many we hadn't seen before there was much need to watch our own. It also quite easy to reach the HDMI input since the TV's are mounted on the shelf & not wall mounted in most cabins. 13 hours ago, CanadianBurger said: I have one complaint about the decor. Unless they've fixed things, the picture doesn't show some of the areas that are in need of repair to the plastic film they applied to the doors. Especially around the button areas. I needed those steps 😞 Oh I do agree that the steps would have been nice to leave in place like on the Royal/Regal. The Crown has steps in their Lotus pool so why not have it similar? I'm just happy about the depth being reduced.

Even though it is listed in the Patter, the Crown does NOT yet have the new menu. It will be coming in the future, but he didn’t know when. My earlier menu post is the current offering.

For what it's worth, they do put patches over all the torn facing but I guess that only happens during a dry dock. There are some of the elevators that are in worse shape than the one shown. Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #89 Share Posted December 9, 2019 MDR Dinner last night Sorry, I was a bit lax and missed entree pics. We’re finding the service very slow. We can see tables on dessert before we even get our mains. Last night was the first night for our regular waiter, so we’ll see if things improve. The food is good, though. The roast beef was very tender.
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #90 Share Posted December 9, 2019 Dessert. Not being able to decide between the soufflé (always get the soufflé) and the frozen chocolate torte, I had both!
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #91 Share Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) This is the first ship where I’ve seen the white sugar packets replaced with these sugar bowl dispensers. Everywhere. And the brown raw sugar packets are gone. There are brown sugar dispensers at IC and Coffee & Cones, but nowhere else. Another touch point for virus spreading... Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #92 Share Posted December 9, 2019 After dinner we went to Good Spirits beside IC for the new drink demo. Some cool new drinks, and the bartender had a microphone and explains the drinks. There are also videos they play explaining the history of the drinks or ingredients. The Butterfly and the Great Pumpkin were excellent.

Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #96 Share Posted December 9, 2019 Our CruiseCritic Meet & Greet was this morning, and we had a great complement of officers and John our Cruise Director join us at Adagio’s. Lots of Q&A, and a fun time was had by all, despite the fact that it was hard to stand way up on deck 16 with the rolling seas.
Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #97 Share Posted December 9, 2019 The Crown is scheduled for dry dock in October 2020 in France. Among the changes will be the conversion of Adagio’s (a very nice but woefully underused space) into a Suite-only concierge area for guests in the 24 suites. Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #98 Share Posted December 9, 2019 We had the Sanctuary booked this afternoon, but with the fierce wind and occasional showers, we were allowed to cancel with no charge. I went up and it was deserted. The wind was so strong that once I came around the corner on deck 17 it almost blew me backwards, and it was hard to make any forward progress. Rare CanadianBurger Posted December 9, 2019 Author #99 Share Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) Pub Lunch today, which I never miss. I had both the Fish & Chips and the Bangers & Mash. Long line to get into Wheelhouse, but once they opened it moved quickly, and food came out literally two minutes after I ordered. Both dishes were excellent. canadarocks Posted December 9, 2019 #100 Share Posted December 9, 2019 This is new, isn't it? I thought the specialty restaurants were always "formal optional".... or is this just another of those "rules" that can be ignored (like Boarding Times!)? 😉
