CeeJayPonz Posted December 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2019 Our flight lands at 7:50 a.m. the morning of the sailing. What can we do until boarding time? Flying in from Texas.

CeeJayPonz Posted December 11, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted December 11, 2019 What do we do with our luggage while waiting to board? It will be quite a wait.

Sorry I don't have a definite answer for you, but have you checked the Ports of Departure forums? That may give you some good ideas.

You can hand your luggage off at the port and walk over to the Queen Mary. Chances are you'll find yourself at the cruise terminal about 10am. Carry on luggage can be stored at the QM's Bell desk while you tour. Super Shuttle tends to be the most popular option from LAX to the terminal. Bruin Steve Posted December 11, 2019 #7 Share Posted December 11, 2019 Don't assume you have too much time to kill...LAX is the fifth busiest airport in the world. Often, you are delayed taxiing around the airport because your gate is occupied. Once you actually make it off the plane, you've got a long walk to baggage claim...then, often a long wait at basket claim... The best way to get to the port used to be by Uber/Lyft...But, LAX instituted new rules a short time ago where now, in order to take Uber, Lyft or a taxi, you need to take a shuttle over to a designated pick-up area (though it could be walked from, say, Terminal 1) and meet your ride there. Problem there is that EVERYONE is meeting there and, sometimes, it's a mess and taes extra time. The shuttle companies are still able to pick up curbside at the terminals, though. Largest two shuttle companies are Super Shuttle and PrimeTime Shuttle...though there are a few others. You can pre-reserve a shuttle or just ask at the curb by the shuttle pick-up signs (there will usually be an agent from both Super Shuttle and Prime Time there). You can reserve either your own shuttle or, less expensive, a shared shuttle. The morning of a cruise, the larger companies should have a number of people wanting a shared shuttle to the pier...Otherwise, you may circle the airport a few times while they fill it up...or you could make other stops in the harbor area to drop people off...so, it may not be that quick a ride to the pier. You can drop your luggage at the ship and walk over to the Queen Mary...or you could pick up the free Passport Shuttle over to Downtown Long Beach (Aquarium of the Pacific opens at 9:00 am)...or you could just hang out until they let you board... 3

Couldn't have answered this better and more accurately. Time flies when you're trying to get from one place to another in a strange city, strange airport, etc. 🙂

But nowhere else can you get stuck in a traffic jam next to a gorilla in a trailer.
riffatsea Posted December 13, 2019 #10 Share Posted December 13, 2019 NO more Super Shuttle at LAX! They are stopping service at the end of December. Google to find others that can still pick up right at the terminal without going to the special ride share pick up area.
Bruin Steve Posted December 13, 2019 #11 Share Posted December 13, 2019 FOR NOW, other shuttle companies apparently still operating include Prime Time, Roadrunner and Karmel...Wondering how Super Shuttle closing down will affect them. But, for now, it seems their business will be "up"...especially with the new Uber/Lyft/taxi pick-up rules. https://www.primetimeshuttle.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiAis3vBRBdEiwAHXB29BBTiE4H87Gzh3IiCNoUULEKGSCDkfWxjDKy0apzfqN0LTMFHcW9DhoCmtkQAvD_BwE#/search https://www.rrshuttle.com/airports/lax.html https://www.karmel.com/

milolii Posted December 17, 2019 #13 Share Posted December 17, 2019 I have been told by front desk personnel at the Queen Mary that they will hold your luggage if you want at to do tour or have a meal. But best to call as ask as always things can change. But has OP already sailed?
