Last cruise  I did this   a Lynch Bages and a L'Evangile  from my little stash.... they stored it and at dinner decanted it as parker suggested  3 hours prior  to my arrival.    ( good service from the somillier .  naturally , as good manners dictates I always offer him/her a glass)     Only trouble with bringing really good wine is that a long air ride requires the wine to rest almost a week... Or so my informants tell me.

I believe the rule is if it is unfiltered wine, rest for a few weeks.  If it is filtered, just let it stand upright for a few days.  All whites are filtered (who wants cloudy white wines).  Most reds are filtered, but you really don't know until you open the bottle and start pouring.  It is more of a question if the sendiment in the wine bothers you or not.
