Changing to Back to Back Cruise with a little over a month to go

Ok I have been booked on a 7  day cruise for about 6 month and I sail on February 16th.  I have never taken a Back to Back Cruise but have always wanted to try one as I think it would be great fun.  It looks as if my work schedule may be flexible enough that I could book an add on sailing for Feb 23rd (and there are still slots available). I won't know for sure I can get the time until next week and will be sailing Solo.  I'd like some advice from those who have done Back to Back sailings before.  What do you think

The only hiccups might be that the second week is sold out by now, or you cannot get the same cabin for both weeks. For the second one, Carnival personnel will help you move all your stuff without excessive packing, so it is not a show stopper. For the first one, that would be a show stopper. It is the only way we cruise now, because 7 days is just not enough, and if you fly, it amortizes your airfare over more days. Go for it.

When booking the second leg make sure they link the two cruises. Then you should be good to get a letter at the end of the first leg telling you the details for gathering and reboarding for your second. Also, the matreD will know and more then likely visit with you on the first week and ask where you would like to be seated (unless ATD, then makes no difference)

Thanks I never thought about linking the bookings - great advice.  Now all I need to know is if I actually have the time - finger crossed on that but I am excited

 

Do they do anything special other than help you move rooms?  Will I have to exit the ship and reboard?

I would not do a B2B if I had to change cabins, but as already mentioned in this thread, that is not a show stopper for everyone.

You will get information left in your cabin, explaining where to go debarkation morning. A crew member will take you down to go through a short reboarding process and get your new S&S card. We are doing a B2B in Sept. and will have to change cabins,  it’s not a deterrent to booking a B2B just a slight inconvenience. Luckily we only have to go next door for the second cruise this time. Enjoy, 14 days is always better than 7 days.

We have done a number of B2B trips. Same cabin sometime, same cabin sometime. If changing we tell our room steward ahead (he always knew already( and he and the new one work it out. Just kind of pack stuff in your bags, leave the hanging stuff alone and they take care of it. We slip each one a few bucks extra. As far as anything extra, you will get a letter to meet at a specific spot. Usually coffee etc waiting. After a seemingly long wait they collect your old S&S and give you your new ones. Then escorted off, through customs etc, and escorted right back on. Usually a drink of some sort in the atrium bar for all B2Bers then a group picture which should be delivered t you room maybe the next morning or so. A treasured keepsake of a bunch of people you will never see again but a fun little thing they do. Then you get the ship for a short time. Any more questions we can certainly try to help.

Don't forget to remove any money you have in your Casino account if you gamble because it is not there for the second leg.  We made this mistake on our first back to back however a check was waiting for us from Carnival when we arrived home.

Fantastic thanks folks.  My fingers are crossed that everything works out.  I like the picture idea just as a nice first experience
