spanky Posted January 14, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Hi. Just wondering how quick it is to get 6,000 + people off of Oasis. Is it as smooth as any other ship? We will be on her in Bayonne and wonder if that will be any better or worse than her current port. Dave
Clarea Posted January 14, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2020 We won't know until she gets to beautiful gorgeous Bayonne and we get reports back from cruisers.
Rare Tapi Posted January 14, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2020 (edited) Can’t speak for Bayonne, but sailing out of Ft Lauderdale on her sister, the Allure, it was one of the absolute fastest debarkations that I’ve ever experienced. They did a fantastic job spreading people. We did normal debarkation and still had almost 3 hours to make our 11:25am flight home. Ken at the beach Posted January 14, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Not Bayonne and that might change things but 2 weeks ago when we disembarked Oasis in Miami from the time we lined up in the promenade to the time we were pulling out of the parking garage was about 20 minutes.
zeppgirl Posted January 14, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Miami disembarking the actual ship wasn't bad, but then once we got our luggage and waited through customs took a little bit more time. Maybe 45 min for the whole process? What really took the longest was waiting for a ride. So many cars with no way to get through...
Merion_Mom Posted January 14, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Cape Liberty uses facial recognition. Disembarkation is therefore quick and efficient.
Rare twangster Posted January 14, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2020 Bayonne is subject to some tidal concerns for the operation crews loading and unloading. Empress for example can have issues in Bayonne because the tides require using cranes at times to load and unload not only luggage but also supplies (instead of forklifts). That slows the process down. Some of the crew on board Empress were telling me about the challenges they and some ships face in Bayonne. Until Oasis goes for the first time and repeats several cycles we won't know what challenges luggage loading/unloading may face . Self assist guests will be unaffected. I expect the first couple of cycles may be a learning exercise for Oasis in Bayonne but they'll adapt and optimize.
buzzard05 Posted January 14, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2020 We did "self-carry" off Oasis in Miami and it was extremely quick.
